Job Description

Position Summary

First and central point of contact and responder to security-related issues to include emergency medical situations that occur during the night shift. Responsible for ensuring building security and guarding the community’s property during the late night hours. Provides for the safety and protection of residents, guests and employees. Answers residents’ questions. Anticipates potential problems and reacts to disturbances and prohibited conduct using established protocols. Develops and delivers personalized service. Answers phones and serves as a general source of Community information.

Essential Duties

  •  Makes periodic exterior and interior security rounds of the building. Inspecting all security devices and fire control equipment, building irregularities, protection devised, exterior doors and exits, and other assigned areas.
  • Screen visitors, clients, team members and residents to expedite their admittance onto the property.  Greets and gives directions or information to residents, visitors, guests and vendors.
  • Addresses security related complaints and ensure proper documentation is completed.
  • Orally and physically de-escalating individuals as needed by preserving order during the night shift and may enforce established protocols pertaining to others and premises.
  • Responds to incidents such as fire, medical emergency, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, or inclement weather with calm urgency.
  • Communicates effectively to management about any unusual activity occurring during their shift.
  • Screens incoming calls; takes messages and/or forwards calls as appropriate.
  • Maintains various records, prepares reports and performs miscellaneous clerical tasks.
  • Monitors emergency computer and alarm systems.
  • Receives and processes work orders for the community.
  • Provides effective and courteous service to others, including residents, guests and co-workers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent or 2 years of verifiable experience.
  • Valid Denver Security Guard License is preferred.
  • Prior work experience involving autonomously dealing with customers, troubleshooting, and/or managing stressful situations calmly and effectively.
  • 2 years of Customer Service experience is preferred.
  • Requires working knowledge of multi-extension, multi-line telephone
  • Able to demonstrate a strong working knowledge of security and monitoring systems, including alarm systems.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills
  • Must possess strong communicating and excellent customer service skills.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

  • Position requires moderate physical activity. Handling objects up to 40 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.
  • Able to stand and walk for long periods of time without sitting or kneeling.
  • Sits, stands, bends and moves frequently during working hours.
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Interacts with residents, family members, visitors frequently.
