Company Description

The Catch22 Multi Academies Trust is the vehicle for our sponsorship of an expanding number of academies focusing on learners who can benefit from small, supportive alternative education provision.

The Coppice Spring Academy is a social, emotional and mental health school which offers full time education and therapeutic support to 70 children aged 11 to 16 years old. Pupils will be referred to the school by the local authority as part of their duties to arrange SEN provision. 

Job Description

We are looking for an Instructor (Unqualified Teacher) to work in our provision teaching students who have emotional and behavioural difficulties, in small groups. The work is intensive requiring flexibility, sensitivity, patience and resilience. An ability to work with and engage all students with creativity and passion towards the subject is essential.

The role will be mainly delivering Outdoor Education so experience leading outdoor activities is essential.

You will be part of a small but effective team where communication and professionalism is paramount. The work, whilst challenging, is extremely rewarding. Primarily you will be required to teach, produce schemes of work and lesson plans. Building rapport with students/families/carers is key to this role and you will need to liaise with a variety of agencies to problem-solve student issues and barriers to learning.

Qualifications

PERSON SPECIFICATION

You will be passionate for the outdoors and be able to pass that passion onto children.

Qualifications

  • Degree Level Qualification (or working towards) - Desirable but not essential for this particular role

Experience

  • Experience of working with our cohort of young people including those with complex behaviour and additional learning needs.
  • Experience leading Outdoor activities/bushcraft
  • Extensive behaviour management experience with students who have complex needs and challenging behaviour.
  • Relevant classroom teaching experience (desirable).

Knowledge

  • A clear understanding of the National Curriculum and its application (desirable).
  • A robust knowledge of behavioural techniques and theories and their application.
  • Knowledge of the statutory requirements of equal opportunities, discrimination, health and safety, safeguarding and child protection.
  • A sound knowledge of planning and assessment techniques.
  • A secure knowledge and understanding of subject(s)/curriculum area(s) and related pedagogy.
  • An extensive knowledge and understanding of how to use and adapt a range of teaching, learning and behaviour management strategies, including how to personalise learning to provide opportunities for all learners to achieve their potential.

Skills/Abilities

Additional Information

Salary: UQR 1 - UQR 11 (£18,167 - £28,732 per annum) + SEN1 (£2,268 per annum)

Contract: Full Time - Permanent

Contract start date: Easter 2021 subject to clearances, or as soon as possible
