Job Description

 

We are a seeking a Sr. Engineering Manager to lead our Provider Experience and User Profile teams,owning the core systems that power how caregivers and families establish identity, build trust, and engage across our platform.

You’ll lead a high-performing, agile team responsible for designing and evolving scalable, distributed systems at the heart of our marketplace. Partnering closely with Product and Design, you’ll deliver reliable, high-impact user experiences while driving modernization and maintaining critical legacy systems. This role is ideal for a leader who values both technical excellence and product impact and understands that the why is just as important as the how.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a distributed team of engineers
  • Own the architecture and technical direction of core profile and provider systems
  • Drive system design, scalability, reliability, and performance improvements
  • Partner cross-functionally to deliver impactful, user-facing features
  • Balance modernization efforts with ongoing support and evolution of legacy systems
  • Establish and uphold high standards for code quality, testing, and operational excellence
  • Tech Stack: Golang microservices on Kubernetes (Istio), gRPC & GraphQL APIs, AWS (Lambda, EventBridge, CDK), Kafka, MySQL, Elasticsearch, Java, React, and Node.js.

Qualifications

 

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years in engineering management
  • Strong experience building and operating microservices and distributed systems at scale
  • Deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS) and modern system architecture patterns
  • Experience leading the design and delivery of scalable, high-availability applications
  • Ability to lead and grow high-performing, globally distributed teams
  • Strong collaboration skills across product, design, and engineering
  • Experience working in fast-paced, iterative environments with evolving requirements
  • Passion for mentoring engineers and raising the technical bar
  • Strong familiarity with our tech stack: Golang microservices on Kubernetes (Istio), gRPC & GraphQL APIs, AWS (Lambda, EventBridge, CDK), Kafka, MySQL, Elasticsearch, Java, React, and Node.js.

Salary Range: $175,000 - $200,000 The base salary range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the national salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Care.com’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and short- and long-term incentives.
