Job Description

The Project Engineer II supports the Project Manager and broader construction team in the planning, coordination, and execution of assigned projects. The Project Engineer II independently manages core project controls and documentation workflows, including bid support, RFIs, submittals, document control, equipment receiving, as-built verification, closeout, and cost-management support. The position also assists with issue resolution, communicates project information to appropriate stakeholders, and helps the team identify and address risks before they affect field execution.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Manager and other project team members with the planning, coordination, and execution of assigned construction projects.
  • Review construction documents, specifications, subcontracts, and project requirements to help confirm that field activities align with the approved scope and design intent.
  • Coordinate the RFI process, including drafting and tracking requests, facilitating timely responses, communicating clarifications, and incorporating resolved information into project records.
  • Manage the submittal process by maintaining logs, coordinating reviews, monitoring turnaround times, distributing approved materials, and following up on outstanding items that could affect procurement or installation.
  • Assist with bid packages, scope reviews, subcontractor and vendor coordination, and bid leveling to support project procurement activities.
  • Maintain accurate and current project documentation, including drawings, specifications, meeting records, logs, correspondence, field reports, and other project controls within the team’s document-management systems.
  • Coordinate with field supervision, design professionals, trade partners, vendors, and internal stakeholders to communicate project information, resolve routine issues, and support efficient field execution.
  • Monitor drawings and field conditions to support verification of as-built information and ensure changes are accurately documented throughout construction.
  • Support the project quality-control program by assisting with inspections, tracking deficiencies and corrective actions, maintaining quality records, and helping confirm that installed work meets project requirements.
  • Support site safety expectations by participating in project safety activities, identifying concerns, communicating requirements, and reinforcing compliance with company and project-specific safety procedures.
  • Coordinate equipment and material receiving activities, including delivery planning, documentation, inspection support, inventory tracking, storage coordination, and communication of damaged or nonconforming items.
  • Assist with cost-management activities such as commitment tracking, change documentation, invoice review support, cost coding, forecasting inputs, and maintaining supporting records for project financial controls.
  • Help maintain project schedules and short-term work plans by tracking submittals, procurement, deliveries, design clarifications, and other activities that may affect construction progress.
  • Manage closeout documentation, including punch-list records, warranties, operation and maintenance manuals, training documentation, record drawings, and turnover packages to support timely project completion.
  • Participate in project meetings, document action items, follow through on assigned commitments, and elevate risks or unresolved issues to the Project Manager in a timely manner.
