Job Description

As Conceptual Estimator - Food & Beverage, you'll have the unique opportunity to work within an integrated Architecture, Engineering, and Construction firm capable of executing ONEsolution integrated project delivery work. Experience collaboration and continuous learning like never before amongst subject matter experts spanning across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, process, and automation engineering; architecture and lab planning; procurement, estimation, virtual design & construction, health & safety, and construction management. The Conceptual Estimator will report to the Estimating Manager - PDS. This role will be responsible for execution of assigned project estimates which entails collaborating with the project team to establish solid basis. As a Corporate Employee, they may support estimates for any of CRB’s regions as workload dictates.

Responsibilities

· The successful candidate will be the primary conceptual estimator for CRB’s Food & Beverage Business Unit.

· Prepare estimates based on limited design information (discuss with discipline leads in lieu of document-based estimating).

· Collaborate with the design team to understand intent and obtain any additional information required to develop the estimate for its intended purpose.

· Review all project plans, specifications, and documents.

· Organize work to fulfil the specific Work Breakdown Structure required for the estimate.

· Perform accurate quantity take-offs. Develop accurate labor and material costs.

· Delegate specific project tasks as necessary to complete estimate within intended timeframe

· Assess and account for project risks.

· Offer cost effective alternates during the estimating process.

· Review the completed draft estimate to remove any errors, duplications, or inconsistencies.

· Compose Basis of Estimate Documents.

· Coordinate resource requirements with regional/office lead estimators and collaborate effectively with the Estimating Team.

· Mentor other estimators on methods of discipline cost estimating.

· Foster working relationships with design counterparts, subcontractors, and suppliers.

· Present your work to your supervisors, construction project teams, A/E teams, clients, and other personnel within and outside of the company.

· Adapt quantification and pricing methods to match the intended use of the estimate and the level of project definition available.

·       Supplement estimating methods with a network of subcontractors and vendors when preparing construction proposals (Lump Sum, GMP, T&M, etc.). Support of Target Value Delivery trending activities.

· Remain current with market trends for material costs, availability, lead times, etc.

· Remain current with labor market trends.

· Coordinate execution methods with PDS estimating team.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

· Minimum of 10 years of estimating capital projects for the Food and Beverage Industry.

 Additional Qualifications

· Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture preferred.

· Individual must possess a thorough understanding of Food and Beverage facilities and be able to apply this experience in the preparation of conceptual estimates.

· Individual must be self-motivated, possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to apply these traits during tight timelines as a contributor to a larger team of experts (Engineering, Architecture, Process, Project Management).

· Experience with design-build engineering delivery preferred.

· Understand and account for white space scope through experience and communication with project team (designers, estimators, project managers).

· Able to work effectively and make decisions under tight deadlines.

· Understand project logistics and project schedules.

· Ability to work independently without supervision as well as part of a team.

·Knowledge of estimating practices, procedures, and benchmarks for their markets.

· Use of estimating software such as Sage Estimating and OnScreen Takeoff is preferred.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, Outlook).

· Possess strong network of subcontractors and suppliers related to area of expertise.

· Knowledge of Autodesk and BIM 360 (Revit, AutoCAD, Assemble, Navis, etc.) a plus.

· Individual must be able to produce and lead the production of detailed estimates.

· EPCM Project Management Experience is a plus

· Knowledge of statistical analysis (Monte Carlo Simulation) a plus.
