Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate to join our Sustainability team within the Financial, Policy & Reporting group. This is a newly created role with an exciting mandate: to support the development and delivery of our sustainability reporting framework. The successful candidate will play a key role in building processes, ensuring data accuracy, and helping to shape the future of how we measure and communicate our sustainability metrics.

Team Description
Financial Policy & Reporting establishes all CPP Investments’ accounting policies to ensure compliance with the CPPIB Act and external standards as well as provide structuring support. We provide transparency to our external stakeholders and strive towards high standards over the integrity of our financial reporting through the delivery of our obligations and ensuring efficiency and effectiveness of internal controls.
Accountabilities:
- Data Collection & Management
- Coordinate with internal teams to gather sustainability-related data across business units.
- Establish and maintain reliable data collection processes and systems.
- Support validation and quality assurance of sustainability metrics.
- Coordination with Service Providers
- Act as a primary point of contact with external service providers and consultants.
- Manage timelines, deliverables, and communication to ensure smooth collaboration.
- Reporting & Analysis
- Assist in the preparation of sustainability reports, disclosures, and other external communications.
- Review metrics and provide insights on performance trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Support alignment with recognized reporting frameworks and standards (e.g., ISSB, GRI, SASB, TCFD, CSRD).
- Regulatory & Market Awareness
- Monitor evolving sustainability reporting requirements and best practices globally.
- Provide recommendations on regulatory changes and their implications for the organization.
- Process Building & Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to the design and implementation of sustainability reporting processes.
- Recommend tools and technologies to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Help define key performance indicators and benchmarks for sustainability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Business, Environmental Studies, Economics, or related field.
- 2-4 years of relevant experience in ESG, sustainability, or corporate reporting preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks and regulatory trends.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills to coordinate across diverse teams.
- Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A keen interest in sustainability and a growth mindset to continuously learn and adapt.
