Job Description

CIMA+ is looking for a Senior Consultant – Systems and Information Technology to join our growing team in the Greater Toronto Area. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting and expanding our Systems and Technology practice in Ontario, with an initial strong focus on the transit sector.

We are looking for a versatile senior technology professional who combines strong technical capabilities, broad systems knowledge, consulting skills, client presence, and a high degree of autonomy. The ideal candidate has developed meaningful expertise in one or more technology domains while gaining sufficient breadth to understand how complex systems, technologies, data, and infrastructure come together within operational environments.

This is not a narrowly specialized technical position. Candidates may have developed deeper expertise in areas such as software and systems integration, cloud and infrastructure, data and analytics, Operational Technology (OT), or enterprise applications, while having sufficient knowledge across adjacent domains to understand dependencies, identify issues, and work effectively with specialists.

Experience in the transit industry is strongly preferred, particularly within organizations operating complex and mission-critical technology environments. Candidates from other operationally intensive industries (Airport, Energy, Defence, etc.) with relevant and transferable systems experience will also be considered.

Primary Responsibilities

Client Advisory and Local Representation

  • Act as a senior technology advisor and local representative of CIMA+'s Operational and Digital Technology practice with clients in the GTA and Ontario
  • Develop trusted relationships with client stakeholders, including business, operational, engineering, and technology teams
  • Present technical issues, alternatives, risks, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Maintain effective communication between clients, CIMA+ project teams, technical specialists, and other project participants

Systems and Technology Advisory

  • Advise clients on the planning, modernization, integration, and implementation of complex information and operational technology systems
  • Assess existing technology environments, systems, architectures, and processes to identify gaps, risks, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement
  • Develop technology strategies, roadmaps, requirements, solution concepts, options analyses, and implementation approaches
  • Contribute to assignments involving enterprise and operational systems, custom software, systems integration, cloud infrastructure, data platforms, analytics, automation, and emerging technologies
  • Evaluate technology alternatives considering operational requirements, interoperability, cybersecurity, scalability, lifecycle, cost, and implementation risks
  • Support system architecture, technology selection, procurement, implementation, integration, and modernization initiatives

Technology Integration, Software and Data

  • Support the definition of system and application integration strategies across operational systems, enterprise applications, cloud environments, SaaS platforms, and third-party solutions
  • Work with other technical specialists to define appropriate architectures, interfaces, APIs, middleware, and data exchange approaches
  • Contribute to assignments involving automation, AI, IoT, and other emerging digital capabilities where appropriate

Practice and Business Development

  • Contribute to establishing and growing CIMA+'s Operational and Digital Technology presence in Ontario
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients
  • Participate in proposals, qualifications, presentations, and client interviews
  • Connect opportunities in Ontario with expertise available across CIMA+ and help assemble multidisciplinary teams to pursue and deliver them
  • Contribute to the continued development of CIMA+'s technology services for the transit and transportation sectors

     Transit and Industry Experience

Transit industry experience is strongly preferred and will be an important consideration in candidate selection. Relevant transit experience may include expertise with systems such as:

  • Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)
  • CAD/AVL and fleet management systems
  • Fare collection and fare integration
  • Automatic Passenger Counting (APC)
  • GTFS and GTFS-Realtime
  • Transit data and analytics platforms
  • Operational Technology and control systems
  • Integration between operational and enterprise systems

Qualifications

  • University degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, or a related discipline
  • Approximately 10 or more years of relevant professional experience in technology consulting, systems engineering, information technology, software, infrastructure, cloud, data, systems integration, Operational Technology, or related fields
  • Experience with complex, operational, or mission-critical systems environments is highly valued.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with clients in a consulting, advisory, engineering, or project delivery environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary and geographically distributed teams.
  • Ability to operate effectively with limited day-to-day supervision and take ownership of client and project needs
  • Integrity, team spirit, and a commitment to excellence
