Job Description

The CIMA+ offices in Western Canada are in the middle of a large growth trajectory. This means new, exciting complex projects that you will have the ability to shape and be a part of. We are seeking a skilled Civil Infrastructure Engineer with strong experience in site development, grading design, surface water management, and underground utility coordination. The successful candidate will contribute to municipal, industrial, and urban infrastructure projects from concept design through construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support site grading design, including cut and fill analysis, earthwork balancing, and optimization
  • Design surface water management systems, including major/minor drainage systems, stormwater conveyance, and detention strategies
  • Prepare and review stormwater management plans in accordance with municipal standards and MMCD specifications
  • Design underground infrastructure including storm, sanitary, and watermain systems, and utility connections
  • Coordinate with utility authorities (water, sanitary, storm, hydro, telecom, gas) for service connections and conflict resolution
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic assessments to support drainage design
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, grading plans, profiles, and servicing layouts using Civil 3D
  • Utilize GIS tools for site analysis, utility mapping, and infrastructure planning
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to verify grading, drainage installation, and utility works
  • Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, and quantity take-offs
  • Ensure compliance with local municipal standards (Lower Mainland BC), MMCD specifications, and applicable regulations
  • Select appropriate construction materials and ensure specification compliance
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless coordination between various aspects of design and construction. This includes working with environmental, structural, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender documents, technical specifications, and support in the construction phases of projects.
  • Participate in environmental assessments and regulatory compliance processes as they relate to infrastructure projects.
  • Ensure that designs meet required codes, standards, and regulations, while also adhering to project timelines and budgets.
  • Utilize Civil3D and/or InRoads/OpenRoads to prepare detailed engineering designs, drawings, and reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • +5 years of relevant experience in civil engineering
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or eligible
  • Experience in the design of watermains, stormwater systems, and sanitary sewers is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating multi-disciplinary design teams and construction projects from concept to completion.
  • Proficiency with design software such as Civil3D, and/or InRoads/OpenRoads, GIS.
  • Familiarity with relevant local (Lower mainland - BC) municipal engineering standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Effective communication skills for working with internal teams, clients, and regulatory authorities.
