Your responsibilities

Are you a graduate HVAC engineer looking to enhance experience in a multicultural environment? This HVAC Project Engineer position could be your opportunity to join CERN's dynamic HVAC section within Site Asset Management group.

Under the guidance of the SCE-SAM HVAC expert, your tasks will be to:

  • Conduct technical studies and design optimized HVAC solutions tailored to site constraints.
  • Prepare design plans, technical specifications, budget and timeline planning.
  • Supervise and coordinate on-site teams, ensuring projects are completed in accordance with the schedule and CERN quality standards.
  • Collabore with subcontractors and suppliers, acting as the primary point of contact between stakeholders.
  • Conduct functional tests for the commissioning, and provide Users training.
  • Manage project handovers, addressing any issues and ensuring final acceptance.
  • Implement maintenance documentation.

Your profile

Skills and/or knowledge

  • Project Management: Skills in budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • HVAC Technical Knowledge: Expertise in system design, installation, and maintenance.
  • Team Coordination: Ability to lead teams and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Quality & Safety: Knowledge of safety standards and quality assurance.
  • Documentation: Competency in technical documentation and project reporting.
  • Technical Software: Proficiency in CAD, BIM, and project management tools.
  • Adaptability: Eagerness to learn new HVAC technologies and sustainable practices.
  • Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.

Eligibility criteria:

  • You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • You have a professional background in Mechanical, HVAC, Energy (or a related field) and have either:
    • a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;
    • or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.

This position involves:

  • Interventions in underground installations.
  • A valid driving licence.

What we offer

  • A monthly stipend ranging between 6212 and 6828 Swiss Francs per month (net of tax).
  • Coverage by CERN's comprehensive health scheme (for yourself, your spouse and children), and membership of the CERN Pension Fund.
  • Depending on your individual circumstances: installation grant; family, child and infant allowances; payment of travel expenses at the beginning and end of contract.
  • 30 days of paid leave per year.
  • On-the-job and formal training at CERN as well as in-house language courses for English and/or French.
