Job Description
CD PROJEKT RED is looking for a Technical Art Director to join our studio in Boston to work on Project Orion, the follow-up to Cyberpunk 2077 and the next major video game in the Cyberpunk franchise. The Technical Art Director will work with other leads and directors to drive our tools development and pipelines for art, deliver on techniques to hit visual excellence, as well as managing VFX and Technical animation resources.
Daily Responsibilities
- Work with the Project Art Director to determine technical solutions to achieve the artistic vision of the game.
- Hire and manage a team of highly technical employees.
- Create and enforce best practices for optimization and performance of game art.
- Work with direct reports on goal setting, career development, and performance.
- Partner with both Art and Engineering to drive best-in-class visuals.
- Working closely with artists and engineers on creating optimized, high-quality visual assets, tools and pipeline solutions.
- Leading efforts to solve complex technical art challenges.
- Defining and documenting technical art processes, tools and best practices.
- Maintaining the content creation pipeline.
- Write and prepare briefs for work with outsource vendors, review work as necessary.
- Work with directors and Production to estimate and plan work.
- Inspire and mentor the Technical Art team, building an environment of creativity, trust and excellence.
Qualifications
- Ability to work independently to identify and own work, deliver results.
- Minimum 10 years of experience as a Technical Artist.
- Previous experience as a Technical Art Director or Principal Technical Artist.
- Extensive experience developing and improving content workflows and pipelines.
- Expert knowledge of UE5 and blueprints.
- A keen artistic eye and the ability to drive visual quality.
- Solid portfolio demonstrating expertise.
- Knowledge of industry-standard tools like Houdini, Blender, Substance Designer.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills, particularly in understanding the dynamics between art and engineering.
- Able to deliver and receive feedback in a productive and accountable manner.

Nice to have
- Scripting proficiency in languages relevant to procedural generation, such as Python.
- Prior experience in AAA titles.
