Job Description

This position supports the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)) Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) Engineering and Technical Support (RETS) program. This position provides subject matter expertise in cutting-edge technologies and their application into new and innovative warfighting capabilities, supporting technology assessments, capability development, and strategic technology planning.

Responsibilities:

• Provide expert knowledge and analysis of cutting-edge technologies and their warfighting applications

• Assess existing and future advanced DoD weapon systems capabilities, concepts of operations, limitations, and upgrade capacities

• Support technology roadmap development and strategic technology planning

            • Support one or more highly technical activities including:

                 • Conduct in-depth technical assessments of land, sea, air, and space platforms

     • Analyze offensive, defensive, kinetic and directed energy weapons systems

     • Evaluate sensors for ISR and fire control applications

     • Assess cyberwarfare capabilities and communication networks

     • Provide expertise in electromagnetic spectrum management including EW and 5G

     • Analyze automation applications and command, control, and battle management systems

     • Support fires, close air support, long range fires, targeting, and air and missile defense assessments

• Interface with research and development communities, industry, and academia

• Provide technical input to acquisition decisions and program reviews

• Support prototyping and experimentation activities

Qualifications

• Requires a minimum TS/SCI clearance

• Master's degree in engineering or physics required (PhD desired)

• Minimum 20 years of relevant experience in advanced technology development

• Pentagon and OUSD(R&E) experience strongly preferred

• Recognized expertise in cutting-edge defense technologies

• In-depth knowledge of advanced DoD weapon systems and capabilities

• Experience with technology transition from research to operational capabilities

• Strong understanding of warfighting concepts and operational requirements

• Experience working with defense research and development organizations

• Excellent analytical and technical writing skills

• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences

• Experience with classified technology programs and assessments
