Job Description

The role: We are seeking a self-motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support our Controller and contribute to the success of our accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have experience managing a variety of accounting functions and providing administrative support in a fast-paced environment.

This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines. The successful candidate will be comfortable interacting with employees at all levels of the organization and will demonstrate flexibility, initiative, resourcefulness, and a high level of professionalism while handling confidential information.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with accounts receivable collections 

  • Assist in the preparation, reconciliation, and review of monthly and year-end accounting transactions 

  • Work with project managers on project accounting costs 

  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required/requested 

  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable 

  • Manage expense reporting process 

  • Manage fixed assets 

  • Research variances and identify discrepancies. 

  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a motivated, self-directed professional who demonstrates initiative, curiosity, and a willingness to learn. They should be comfortable asking questions, seeking solutions, and contributing in a collaborative team environment 

Required qualifications include: 

  • 2+ years of accounting experience 

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s in Business, Accounting, Finance preferred 

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills 

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel 

Additional Information

Location: Office-based role in Waltham, MA

Reports to: Controller

Relocation: Relocation assistance is not provided for this role

This role is restricted to US persons (i.e., US citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 USC 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. Boston Engineering will require proof of status prior to employment. 

Salary Range:  The base salary range for this position is $65,000-85,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.  The final offer amount will be determined by factors such as the candidate’s education, experience and skills. A comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, 401(k) match, and paid time off is also provided.
