Company Description

Working at Boskalis is about creating new horizons and sustainable solutions. In a world where population growth, an increase of global trade, demand for (new) energy and climate change are driving forces, we challenge you to make your mark in finding innovative and relevant solutions for complex infrastructural and marine projects.

Dredging is one of our traditional core activities and Boskalis is famous for projects like the land reclamation for Manila International Airport, Pulau Tekong, Singapore’s first polder or the expansion of the Suez Canal. Creation of new nature areas like the Markerwadden is something we contribute too. In your job you will work for the dredging division. Boskalis have been protecting coastlines, reclaiming land and developing infrastructure for over 100 years. That’s a lot of ingenuity, talent and commitment. When we bring all of this together, we become more than the sum of our parts and can seize opportunities others miss. This is how we collaborate and make the difference together. In our lives, in our work and in the lives of people across the world.

Boskalis Offshore Energy has one of the largest global fleets of specialized offshore vessels, allowing us to carry out a broad range of offshore activities. We provide innovative and sustainable all-round solutions to tackle major worldwide maritime challenges. Our Offshore Energy division supports sustainable energy solutions such as wind energy as well as traditional fossil facilities. We’re involved in the entire journey from developing and transporting to maintaining and decommissioning these facilities.

Job Description

As a Project Surveyor within the Boskalis Central Survey Department, you will make your mark supporting a diverse portfolio of offshore and dredging projects worldwide. Working primarily from the office in Papendrecht, you will be responsible for the technical preparation, coordination, and execution support of multiple survey projects simultaneously.

You act as the link between project teams, offshore survey crews, clients, and subcontractors, ensuring that survey activities are planned, executed, and delivered in line with project requirements and Boskalis' quality standards. Although the position is predominantly office-based, occasional travel to project sites, vessels, and client locations is required. Depending on project demands, occasional weekend work may also be necessary.

Your responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and validate survey methodologies, procedures, and deliverables.
  • Provide technical survey support to offshore, dredging, and marine infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate survey activities across multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Support project teams with survey planning, risk assessments, and execution strategies.
  • Review and process survey data, quality control reports, and final deliverables.
  • Act as a technical focal point for offshore survey personnel, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Support mobilization and demobilization activities for survey spreads and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, client specifications, and applicable regulations.
  • Contribute to the development and standardization of survey workflows and best practices.
  • Participate in project visits, vessel inspections, offshore campaigns, and client meetings when required.

Your qualities and experience
You can move ahead as a project surveyor if you have:

  • Extensive professional experience in the hydrographic, offshore, or marine survey industry.
  • Strong operational survey background with experience gained in offshore environments.
  • Previous senior field-based positions such as Party Chief, Senior Surveyor, Offshore Survey Manager, or similar.
  • Thorough understanding of hydrographic survey techniques, positioning systems, geodesy, navigation systems, and survey data processing.
  • Experience supporting complex offshore construction, dredging, cable installation, renewables, or marine infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally, both nationally and internationally.
  • Flexibility to support project activities outside regular office hours and occasionally during weekends.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written. Dutch is an advantage.
