Job Description
Make your mark as Manager Project Engineering at Boskalis Offshore Energy for the business unit Heavy Marine Transport (HMT) and work for prestigious and challenging offshore projects!
As a Manager Project Engineering, you will be working for the HMT department of the Boskalis Offshore Energy division in Papendrecht. This department is responsible for marine transportation, using its own fleet of semi-submersible heavy transport vessels, which often relates to complicated projects in the sustainable energy and oil & gas sectors.
As Manager Project Engineering you will manage a team of approximately 12 project engineers and play a vital role in overseeing and coordinating engineering activities for our heavy marine transport projects worldwide. Your expertise will contribute to the successful execution of tenders and projects, ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and quality
Your responsibilities
- First point of contact for questions and requests for the business unit regarding project engineering
- Lead a team of project engineers and technical professionals, providing guidance, mentoring, and technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct performance reviews, have periodic development conversations and identify training requirements
- Create clear scopes of work from the tender and project requests and delegate the work between your team and yourselves or outsource if the team is out of capacity.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to the project engineers, ensuring effective planning, execution, and completion of projects.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to evaluate project feasibility, risks, and strategies for successful project execution
- Supervise and review engineering plans, schedules, calculations, technical specifications and budgets, closely monitor progress, and ensure adherence to established timelines and budgets.
- Conduct and review feasibility studies, risk assessments.
- Conduct regular project reviews and progress meetings (on the basis of our NINA and WOW programs) to monitor project milestones, identify issues or bottlenecks, and implement necessary corrective actions.
- Supervise and review with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely availability of required equipment, materials, and resources for successful project execution.
- Support the tendering process by providing engineering input, participating in technical discussions, and reviewing proposals.
- Stay updated with the latest industry developments, technological advancements, and best practices to drive innovation and continuous improvement within the project engineering function.
Your qualities and experience
You can move ahead as Manager Project Engineering if you have:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field.
- Extensive experience (minimum of 8-10 years) in (project) engineering, preferably in heavy marine transport or similar industries.
- Strong knowledge of heavy lifting, transport, and installation methods for large-scale marine infrastructure.
- Familiarity with international engineering standards, industry regulations, and health and safety practices.
- In-depth knowledge of marine engineering principles, including structural analysis, stability calculations, transportation engineering, and marine operations
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of project engineering team.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to handle complicated engineering challenges.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical information in a clear and concise manner.
- Demonstrated track record of successful project delivery within deadline and budget constraints.
- Understanding of project management methodologies and the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- A good command of spoken English and academic reporting skills.
