Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities :
We are seeking a seasoned Foreign Trade / EXIM professional with 10-12 years of hands on experience
in managing end to end international trade operations. The role demands strong functional expertise in
import/export compliance, customs regulations, logistics management, and trade governance, along
with the ability to lead teams and drive operational excellence.
The selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing the organization's EXIM function, ensuring
regulatory compliance, cost optimization, and seamless coordination across stakeholders including
customs authorities, logistics partners, internal stakeholders, and global counterparts.
1. EXIM Strategy & Compliance Governance
Develop and implement robust foreign trade strategies aligned with business objectives.
Ensure full compliance with applicable customs laws, FTP provisions, DGFT regulations, export
control norms, sanctions frameworks, and anticorruption statutes.
Drive risk mitigation initiatives and maintain audit readiness at all times.
2. Import & Export Operations Management
Oversee end-to-end import and export processes including documentation, customs clearance,
freight movement, and last-mile coordination. Ensure accurate and timely preparation of all EXIM documentation such as commercial invoices, packing lists, Bills of Entry, Shipping Bills, Certificates of Origin, and related declarations. Manage interactions with Customs, DGFT, SEZ/STPI (if applicable), and other regulatory authorities.
3. Logistics & Supply Chain Coordination
Supervise international transportation (air/sea/road), CHA coordination, warehousing, and distribution.
Monitor shipment timelines, demurrage/detention exposure, and freight cost optimization initiatives.
Collaborate with procurement, finance, production, and planning teams to ensure seamless material flow.
4. Stakeholder & Partner Management
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with freight forwarders, CHAs, transporters and global suppliers/customers.
Negotiate commercial terms and service level agreements to achieve operational and cost efficiencies.
5. Data Analytics & Continuous Improvement
Analyze trade data, duty outflows, logistics costs, and compliance metrics to identify optimization opportunities. Drive process automation and digitization initiatives within the EXIM function.
6. Team Leadership & Capability Building
Lead and mentor the EXIM team, ensuring clear accountability and performance management.
Establish SOPs, escalation matrices, and structured training programs to enhance team capability
and compliance awareness.
Qualifications
Educational qualification:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in International Trade, Business Administration, Supply Chain
Management, or related discipline.

Experience :
Minimum 10-12 years of progressive experience in EXIM / Foreign Trade management within a
manufacturing or trading environment
Mandatory/requires Skills :
Strong working knowledge of Indian Customs Act, Foreign Trade Policy (FTP), DGFT procedures,
export control regulations, and international trade compliance frameworks.
Proven experience in handling high-volume import/export transactions and managing
CHA/logistics partners.
Exposure to AEO compliance, duty optimization schemes (e.g., Advance Authorization, EPCG,
RoDTEP), and trade agreements (FTAs) will be an added advantage.
Demonstrated leadership capability with experience managing cross-functional teams.
Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP or equivalent), trade management software, and MS Office
tools.
Excellent communication skills; fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of an additional
foreign language will be advantageous.
