Job Description
SUMMARY
Maintains and improves equipment and facility through repairs, PMs, and project work. Supervises maintenance technicians as they respond to production demands. Duties and tasks are frequently non-routine. Resolves most questions and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher levels.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Monitors all maintenance calls and focuses the maintenance staff based on priorities and competence requirements to keep production equipment running at optimum efficiency. This includes, but is not limited to, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and tooling repairs. The highest degree of urgency is to be given to all safety related calls and conditions.
- Supports all Safety initiatives and holds team accountable to safety.
- Supports regular PMs on the facility and equipment through the PM schedules.
- Track individual time through the maintenance database and ensure OPRA work orders are created and closed in a timely manner.
- Coordinate maintenance 5S responsibilities.
- Improve operations through Continuous Improvement Activities.
- Report any conditions of spare part shortage/absence or other required parts to the appropriate spare parts manager and maintenance planner.
- Coordinate coverage for extended shifts and weekend work.
- Assign work (calls, projects, PMs, etc.) within the department and communicate major downtimes within the value stream using the escalation plan and shift turnover report.
- Initiates problem-solving sheets for technical downtime to identify problem, root cause and corrective action, and presents those to management for approval the day of or after the downtime event.
- Identifies training gaps and executes the maintenance training plan, incl. coordination of internal and external training resources and progress tracking of team development.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, maintenance, or production support roles.
- Strong knowledge of TPM, planned/unplanned maintenance, and system procurement processes.
- Ability to interpret technical designs and production planning documentation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and structured work methodology.

- Works under minimal supervision. May assist in orienting and training lower level employees.
Leadership Skills:
- Ability to act as a member of the maintenance leadership team in addition to perform duties as directed by the department manager. Ability to coach and mentor the technicians in your area(s) of responsibility. Ability to assist the department manager in fulfilling the specific objectives and goals set for the value stream.
Computer Skills:
- Must have Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook software. Must be capable of learning other software packages (Ex: SAP, Axalant, and Test Software).
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Individual must possess the interpersonal skills communicate with coworkers.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
The ability to work in an office and manufacturing assembly environment, which could include sitting or standing for the majority of the day. Responsibilities include the need to lift, carry, push, and pull material on an infrequent basis.
