Job Description
Primary Responsibilities:
Serve as Mechanical Resident Engineer in the plant, responsible for assigned projects, design-related problem-solving activities, risk assessments, and resolution of plant-related mechanical issues.
Lead and support improvement projects as an extended resource to the VSO (Value Stream Organization), focusing on key performance metrics including scrap reduction, downtime minimization, FOR (fall-out-rate) improvement, IDC (internal defect cost) reduction, and optimization of line utilization.
Provide technical support and assistance on plant and supplier-related issues, including evaluation and sourcing of mechanical components from local suppliers, resolution of supplier delivery challenges, and assessment of tooling replacement requirements. Offer technical guidance and expertise on commodity-related issues such as plastics, die-cast, machined components, etc.
Lead technical responsibility for cost reduction initiatives, including component localization strategies in North America and participation in RPP (Ratio Project Planning) activities to drive operational efficiency and cost savings.
Assess and communicate the technical impact of product deviations from the mechanical engineering perspective, ensuring timely identification and resolution of quality and performance concerns.
Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, risk assessments, and engineering reports to support decision-making and compliance requirements.
Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and product development teams to ensure alignment on mechanical engineering standards and continuous improvement objectives.
Monitor and analyze equipment performance and reliability metrics, recommending preventive maintenance strategies and equipment upgrades to enhance plant productivity and reduce unplanned downtime.
Provide technical guidance to engineering staff and manufacturing personnel, fostering knowledge transfer and building mechanical engineering capability within the organization.
Qualifications
Education:
BS Degree in Mechanical, Electromechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
Working Experience:
• Preferable 1-2 years in similar roles
