Title : Sub project manager

Role Summary

The Hardware Sub‑Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering assigned hardware sub‑projects in line with overall project objectives. The role ensures timely delivery, cost control, quality compliance, and risk management across the hardware development lifecycle, while coordinating closely with system, software, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution

  • Own and manage the hardware sub‑project scope, milestones, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Prepare and maintain hardware development plans, schedules, and effort estimates.
  • Track progress against plan and ensure adherence to project milestones (Prototype, DV, PV, SOP).
  • Coordinate hardware activities with overall project master schedule.

Technical Coordination

  • Align and coordinate with hardware design engineers on requirements, architecture, schematic, layout, and BOM activities.
  • Ensure compliance with customer, internal, and regulatory requirements (functional, electrical, EMC, environmental).
  • Support technical decision‑making, trade‑off analysis, and escalation where required.

Cost, Quality, and Risk Management

  • Monitor and control hardware development cost, including prototype and validation expenses.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate technical and project risks; maintain risk and mitigation plans.
  • Ensure execution of design reviews, DFMEA, WCA, tolerance analysis, and validation activities.
  • Drive resolution of deviations, open points, and technical issues.

Supplier & Component Management

  • Coordinate with suppliers for component selection, alternates, PCNs, and EOL management.
  • Support resiliency, second‑source, and alternate component strategies.
  • Ensure timely availability of components for prototype builds and validation phases.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Interface with system, software, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and logistics teams.
  • Support integration activities and manage interface topics across domains.
  • Act as a communication bridge between engineering teams and project/program management.

Reporting & Communication

  • Prepare and present hardware status reports, KPIs, and risk updates to stakeholders.
  • Conduct and document review meetings, action tracking, and MoMs.
  • Support customer and internal audits, technical discussions, and milestone reviews.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of:
    • Analog and digital hardware design
    • Power electronics and protection concepts
    • EMC, environmental, and reliability requirements
    • Hardware validation (DV/PV), testing, and release processes
  • Knowledge in end‑to‑product automotive development and production processes.
  • Effective stakeholder management, including handling OEM queries and coordinating with Sales and Plant teams.
  • Strong structured problem‑solving skills, with hands-on experience in hardware debugging and failure analysis.
