Job Description

Responsibilities

PLC & Control Systems Integration

  • Design, program, and modify PLC logic (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Rexroth L20/L40) to enable data extraction from manufacturing and testing lab equipment
  • Establish robust connectivity between PLCs and the Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
  • Integrate and configure Bosch Rexroth CtrlX CORE controllers for high-speed data acquisition from sensors and machines

Data Acquisition & Connectivity

  • Develop and implement software solutions for connecting high-speed sensors (e.g., vibration, process data) to edge devices like CtrlX and NI CompactRIO
  • Utilize and manage data transfer protocols including UDP, TCP/IP, and others to ensure reliable data flow from the shop floor to servers or the cloud (Microsoft Azure)
  • Implement data conditioning and pre-processing routines on edge devices using LabVIEW, C++, and Python

Data Analysis & Visualization

  • Connect aggregated data sources to Microsoft Power BI to create dynamic, insightful dashboards and reports for process monitoring and analysis
  • Develop custom scripts and applications (Python, C++) to support data logging, transformation, and analysis tasks
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to understand data requirements and deliver meaningful visualizations

Project Execution & Support

  • Lead and support key digitalization projects, such as the AI Data Logger for high-frequency signal acquisition and PLC connectivity for the MES system. but also the coordination of bigger projects including planning, designing and coordination with our external supplier. 
  • Act as a technical expert for machine connectivity, providing support and troubleshooting for deployed solutions across the plant
  • Document solutions, including code, network architecture, and configuration guides to ensure maintainability and knowledge transfer
  • Work closely with international teams (e.g., Central Research in Renningen) to leverage existing expertise and contribute to global Bosch solutions

 

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field

Technical Experience & Skills

  • Required: 3+ years of hands-on experience with PLC programming (Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000, or similar). Experience with Bosch Rexroth PLCs/CtrlX is a major plus.
  • Required: Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python or C++ for data handling and application development
  • Required: Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., OPC UA, Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP) and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, UDP)
  • Languages & Travel: Proficient in English necessary (at least B2 certification). German B1 level is preferred. Must have availability to travel up to 30% within Mexico and abroad.
  • Highly Preferred: Experience connecting industrial assets to MES, SCADA, or cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure)
  • Highly Preferred: Experience creating dashboards and reports in Power BI or similar BI tools (Tableau, Grafana)
  • Preferred: Familiarity with software development tools and environments such as Visual Studio Code, Linux, and version control (Git)
  • Preferred: Experience with NI hardware (CompactRIO) and software (LabVIEW, FPGA)

Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex systems from the physical sensor up to the cloud
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (production, maintenance, IT, and management)
  • Proactive and self-motivated with a passion for learning new technologies and driving digital transformation
  • Ability to manage projects, prioritize tasks, and deliver results within set timelines
