Job Description

The sustainability expert will support the BHC Head of APAC HSE & Sustainability in developing and executing regional sustainability strategy (Scope 1and 2) to enhance environmental performance, resource efficiency, and compliance across operations, aligned with the company’s global sustainability goals and reporting requirements. This role is responsible for collecting, validating, and analyzing data on energy consumption, water usage, waste generation, and emissions, and for driving the implementation of energy-efficiency improvements, emissions reductions, and circular economy initiatives. The role will collaborate with Production, Engineering, Procurement, Maintenance, Finance, and Sales & Marketing to ensure robust sustainability governance, data accuracy, and audit readiness.

 

  • Act as a regional coordinator between Business Units and sites, ensuring alignment on sustainability targets, KPIs, and initiatives.
  • Support sites in implementing sustainability projects (energy efficiency, water, waste, and carbon reduction), including basic feasibility analysis, tracking, and coordination. Collaborate with location teams to drive retrofits, equipment optimization, process improvements, and training; ensure traceability and milestone management.
  • Energy Efficiency fund submission preparation from the region in alignment with BHC Energy Efficiency leader
  • Maintain and support regional data management (energy, emissions, water, waste), including data collection, validation, and KPI reporting.
  • Assist in driving ISO 14001 / 50001 related activities, including audit preparation, follow-up actions, and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate regional activities such as energy efficiency programs, audits, and regular exchange meetings with sites.
  • Support governance and standardization by helping to establish workflows, data standards, and documentation practices.
  • Support PMI activities related to sustainability and EHS (post-merger integration).
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., site teams, procurement, engineering, sales & marketing) and support communication, training, and sustainability-related initiatives.
  • Other Sustainability & EHS related tasks.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of sustainability concepts (energy efficiency, circular economy, greenhouse gas accounting).
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with sustainability-related policies.
  • Working language: English must be fluent; strong written and spoken English is required.
  • Travel: willingness and ability to travel as required to support regional activities (occasional travel within APAC or as needed).

Additional Information

This position can be located in Shanghai or Suzhou.
