sia Abrasives Ltd (part of the Bosch Power Tools/Accessories Division) is an innovative manufacturer of non woven and foam abrasive products as well as a distributer in the UK of coated abrasives. The sites in Greetland, West Yorkshire and Alfreton, Derbyshire, have a wealth of experience in the manufacture and development of abrasive products, ideally complementing sia Abrasives’ systems solutions.
Job Description
We have an open position for an experienced Technical Engineering Function (TEF) Manager at our sia Fibral Limited, Greetland, Halifax site.
Main duties include:
- Full management of the TEF team taking account of the HSEQ factors with responsibility for site engineering records and drawings.
- Identification and action of maintenance and verification requirements in order to maintain/improve the facilities. Develop preventative action and continuous improvement within the plant processing equipment and site services.
- Budgetary control including forecasting and spares management.
- Be an integral part of hardware engineering of all plant modifications and capital projects from scope finalisation to handover to operations.
- Responsible for management and development of the CMMS tool and develop proactive maintenance activity to improve operational performance.
- Developing and coaching the team to ensure skillset is fit for purpose to maintain all equipment.
- Manage the statutory obligations relating to the TEF function and the equipment for which it is responsible, set goals and targets for the team
- To improve the standard of engineering implementation on site.
- To actively pursue site reliability in line with OEE guidelines.
- Participate in wider site projects and meetings
- Implement project work (including appropriate Plant/Site “shutdown” activities).
- Full utilisation of corporate standards where appropriate and development of own local standards.
- Effective use of engineering contractor activities.
- Provision of technical support and guidance relating to the solution of manufacturing problems and incident investigations
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years experience in an engineering management environment.
- Engineering qualification in a relevant discipline.
- IT literate.
- Proven people management skills.
- Working knowledge of 5s, TPM, Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing techniques, i.e, BPS.
- Team player.
- Positive communicator.
- Able to accept “change” and work flexibly to high standards.
- Work under own initiative and be self-motivating.
- Customer focused (internal and external).
Preferred Attributes
- Engineering degree in mechanical or electrical discipline, ideally to masters level.
- Held an engineering management position within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in the management of CMMS and other engineering systems.
