Job Description

  • Perform First Article Inspections (FAI/PPAP) according to drawings, technical specifications, customer requirements, and acceptance criteria.
  • Conduct dimensional and functional measurements using basic and advanced instruments such as calipers, micrometers, indicators, CMM, and optical comparators.
  • Verify availability, condition, and calibration status of all measurement instruments prior to use, following metrology procedures.
  • Document inspection results using approved formats, including FAI reports, dimensional layouts, checklists, and traceability records.
  • Identify deviations and nonconformities in first articles and immediately communicate findings to Engineering, Production, and Quality.
  • Interpret drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications accurately, providing support to operators and technicians when needed.
  • Inspect and validate fixtures, gauges, and measurement devices to ensure repeatability and reproducibility.
  • Participate in MSA studies (GR&R, linearity, bias) and support improvements to measurement systems.
  • Maintain organization, cleanliness, and visual control within the metrology lab and inspection areas.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing evidence of measurements, calibrations, and first‑article releases.
  • Uphold Q‑Basics related to Quality Responsibility, Work Instructions, Stable Processes, Product and Process Control, and Measurement Equipment Management.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • 3+ years of related professional experience.
  • Technical degree or equivalent experience in Metrology, Manufacturing, Quality, or related fields.
  • Experience in dimensional inspection, FAI/PPAP, or industrial metrology.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T, drawing interpretation, and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency with basic and advanced measurement instruments; CMM experience preferred.
  • Understanding of MSA, GR&R, and metrology fundamentals.
  • High discipline, accuracy, and focus on traceability.
  • Strong documentation skills aligned with quality standards.
  • Effective communication with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams.
