Job Description
The Angle Line Operator is responsible for ensuring proper startup of the Angle line. Also, the Angle Line Operator is responsible for safely discharging finished angles from the angle line. The Angle Line Operator monitors and inspects the finished product. The Paint Line Exit End Operator also records finished coil and shop order data into the information system.
Position Summary:
- To roll form angles to standard stock requirements or to meet specific production orders.
- Perform equipment set up for various angle line products.
- To ensure quality requirements are met, including a uniform 90° break and proper length, etc.
- Maintain records including production and quality control and downtime data.
- Data entry of angle production and QC into the computer system.
- Perform minor maintenance duties and daily housekeeping duties.
- Assist in environmental clean-up if needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Required Education / Skills:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- The candidate must be able to work night shift.
- Must be able to take and pass a pre-hire assessment, if required
- Any roll forming experience preferred.
- Experience operating overhead cranes, forklift, and banding equipment is desired.
- Computer skills are a must.
- Ability to read a tape measure.
- Candidate must have good communication skills.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read and comprehend documents including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and simple correspondence. Also, the ability to communicate information (in small group situations) to other employees.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as fractions and percentages.
Equipment / Tools Used:
- Tape measure, square, angle line production equipment, angle line computer, inventory records, protractor, overhead crane, forklift, banding equipment, forms, records, etc. PC and Metal Prep computer system.
Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee performs near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme conditions.
