Job Description

Summary: 

The primary function of the Alternate Crewman is to perform any of the jobs in the following areas:  Paint Line, Wet Section, Waste Treatment, and all other general factory positions when required.  Job duties will be assigned by the Production Leader.    

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for performing duties as outlined in the job descriptions depending on the particular job the Alternate Crewman is performing.  

  • Exit Operator 

  • Entry Operator 

  • Prime and Finish Coater 

  • Wet Section and Wet Section Operator  

  • General Factory material handling positions  

  • Work from Shop Orders, schedules and special instructions.   

  • Responsible for keeping work area in a clean and orderly condition. 

  • Responsible for understanding and complying with the fundamental principles associated with the Quality and Environmental Management System in place at Metal Coaters of California, Inc. 

  • Communicates daily with internal personnel from Production and Quality Control in order to assist in resolving problems and achieving company goals. 

  • If (in the event of an abnormal occurrence) an employee feels uncomfortable, unsure or unable to safely correct an issue, that employee must contact a member of plant leadership for assistance prior to attempting to correct the issue. 

 

Environmental Impacts of this Position  

The Machine Operator Back-Up has a responsibility of avoiding environmental impacts such as the release of oils, grease from forklifts and cranes, solvents, paints, and various other chemicals by accidental puncture, while performing daily duties.  The Machine Operator Back-Up also have the responsibility to recycle all recyclable materials such as: paper, plastics, cardboard, ink cartridges etc.  Good housekeeping practices are essential as a preventative measure.  If a spill occurs, MCG-527 Spill Response Procedure must be followed.  

 

 

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements:

Education and/or Experience: 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)   

Language Skills: 

Ability to read and comprehend documents including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and simple correspondence. Also, the ability to communicate information (in small group situations) to other employees. 

 

Mathematical Skills: 

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as fractions, percentages, area, circumference, volume and densities. Also, the ability to apply the concepts of statistics and probability to practical situations. 

 

Reasoning Ability: 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to perform work instructions that are furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Also, the ability to solve problems, which involve multiple variables in a standard situation. 

 

Other Skills & Abilities: 

PC Skills are preferable. 

 

Physical Demands: 

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stand; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance. Specific vision abilities include close-up and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. 

 

Work Environment: 

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally performs near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme cold or heat. The noise level in the work environment is considered moderate.
