The Opportunity

Our Australian Steel Markets Business is looking for a Sustainability Advisor to join the Sustainability Team, located in Mascot NSW (with consideration for Port Kembla for the right candidate).

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on BlueScope's sustainability journey. You'll support the development of sustainability credentials for our products, working across the business to ensure our environmental claims are credible, evidence-based and aligned with industry best practice.

What Will You Do?

Working collaboratively with experts across BlueScope, you will:

  • act as a key point of contact for sustainability-related enquiries from internal and external stakeholders including product credentials and decarbonisation initiatives.
  • coordinate with teams across Manufacturing, Innovation, Product Stewardship, and Marketing to develop and maintain sustainability data and documentation
  • manage sustainability claims governance
  • support the maintenance and development of Life Cycle Inventories (LCIs), Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs), Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) including contributing to the delivery of a major LCA and EPD update program
  • review and maintain product ecolabel certifications or product sustainability frameworks/databases and assess new or updated certifications and requirements support the identification of emerging sustainability risks, opportunities and industry trends
  • develop technical content, tools and resources that support customer and stakeholder engagement
  • conduct research to support current and future sustainability value propositions and product credentials
  • represent BlueScope through industry forums, conferences and professional networks

More About You

You will bring:

  • approximately 3 to 5 years' experience in sustainability, environmental consulting, the built environment, building products, engineering or a related field
  • exposure to, or experience with, LCA methodologies, EPDs and ecolabels
  • experience with, rating tools such as NABERS, Green Star, IS Rating
  • strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical data
  • demonstrated initiative, curiosity and a passion for continuous learning
  • effective stakeholder engagement and project coordination skills
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills.
