BlueScope is an Australian-born global success story spanning 15 countries. Our team of over 16,500 people is our strength and we want our people to be safe, successful and well. We’re leaders and innovators in transforming steel into smart products and solutions that support society, today and in the future. We’re proud of brands, like COLORBOND ® steel that inspire and protect everything from hospitals to bridges and stadiums.

The Opportunity

What’s next in your career? Are you ready to start a new journey?

At BlueScope, our Team Members bring a diverse range of skills, experiences and perspectives. If you're looking to build a rewarding career in manufacturing, we'd love to hear from you.

As part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers. Each day, you’ll play an integral part in producing BlueScope’s steel for our customers, ensuring that only the finest quality is delivered.

No previous manufacturing or operations experience is required. We'll provide all the training, support and coaching you need to help you succeed in your new role.

We're excited to be creating a Talent Community of future Team Members. Being selected into our Talent Community opens the door to 12-month fixed-term opportunities as they become available, with positions expected to commence from October 2026 and continue to arise over the following 12 months.

We're committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone feels respected, valued and empowered to be their authentic selves. We encourage applications from women and First Nations people as we continue to build a diverse workforce that reflects the communities in which we operate.

This is a hands-on, physically active role where no two days are the same. You'll be part of a supportive team operating machinery, moving steel products and helping keep our operations running safely and efficiently.

These roles involve being on your feet for most of your shift and may require manual handling, lifting, working around large machinery and exposure to heat, noise and working at heights, depending on the department. We provide the training, equipment and ongoing support needed to help you perform your role safely and confidently.

To help you decide whether this opportunity is right for you, you'll have the opportunity to attend an online Information Session where we'll provide more detail about the different departments, the work involved and the shift patterns available.

Opportunities like this don't come around often, making this a unique chance to start a career with one of Australia's leading manufacturers.

What Will You Do?

Working as part of a collaborative team, you'll receive ongoing training and support to learn how to:

  • work safely and contribute to a strong safety culture
  • operate machinery used to manufacture and process steel products
  • safely pack, strap and inspect steel products to ensure quality
  • operate forklifts and overhead cranes
  • work closely with your teammates to achieve production and customer requirements

What Are the Shift Patterns?

Our operations run around the clock, with Team Members working a variety of 8 to 12-hour rotating shift patterns. Depending on the department, you may work day, afternoon and night shifts on either a 24/5 or 24/7 rotating roster, which may also include weekends, overtime and public holidays.

To help you plan ahead, our rosters are published up to 12 months in advance, giving you visibility of your roster well ahead of time.

More About You

You don't need previous manufacturing experience - we're looking for people with the right attitude. We’re on the lookout for team players who:

  • put safety first
  • enjoy hands-on, practical work
  • are comfortable working in a physically active environment
  • collaborate well in a team environment
  • are adaptable and open to working rotating shifts
  • respect others and value working in a diverse and inclusive workplace

Recruitment Process

  • attending an online Information Session on Wednesday, 19 August 2026, to learn more about the roles and shift patterns
  • attending one face-to-face Assessment Centre on either Wednesday, 26 August, Thursday, 27 August or Friday, 28 August 2026
