Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Coordinator in our Welded Products maintenance team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers

In this dynamic role, you’ll enjoy the best of both worlds- hands‑on troubleshooting of mechanical issues in the field, combined with the responsibility of coordinating the maintenance of the department’s mechanical assets. You’ll play a key role in planning, implementing and continuously improving maintenance strategies, with a strong focus on maximising equipment performance, reducing failures, and supporting safe, efficient and reliable operations across this world‑class asset.

What Will You Do?

As a Mechanical Maintenance Coordinator, you will:

• supervise the day-to-day management of plant maintenance activities, including planning, organising, execution and review of maintenance
• isolate equipment and perform preventative and corrective maintenance   
• inspect production and quality critical equipment and fault find, resolve issues and fix any non-conformances 
• coordinate and provide technical support to the maintenance resources within the section
• coach, mentor and develop maintenance personnel in manufacturing excellence principles and process, particularly around root cause and problem analysis and the development and execution of corrective actions
• participate in cost reduction and capital upgrade projects
• respond to the day-to-day Mechanical availability and reliability issues

As an enthusiastic and motivated individual, you will bring your experience and demonstrate a willingness to develop your skills. You will also bring:

• a mechanical trade or mechanical engineering degree
• experience working in a similar industry within mechanical maintenance, with a focus on defect elimination and equipment reliability
• a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others
• strong communication skills, with demonstrated experience coordinating work various departments
• experience in maintenance coordination and collaboration with multiple internal and external customers
