The Opportunity

Come and discover the opportunity to join our Blast Furnace team at our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility as an Electrical Equipment Technician. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

In this critical role, you will use your technical background and experience to deliver key outcomes in maintaining and developing the blast furnace equipment. You'll implement and improve our maintenance strategies to achieve optimum equipment performance and reduction in failures. Your contributions will ensure that this world-class asset delivers safe, efficient and reliable continuous operations for Australia’s steel making industry.

What Will You Do?

Working in a supportive environment, you will contribute to the safety of our people, the quality of our product and the reliability of our equipment. You will:

  • troubleshoot day-to-day problems, recommending robust solutions
  • provide assessment and follow up of equipment issues impacting plant performance
  • perform equipment inspections as well as detailed planning and condition monitoring of equipment
  • assess the priority of emergent work relative to planned work to ensure electrical trade resources are applied in the best interests of the business
  • coach and mentor operators and tradespersons in equipment function and technology

More About You

Along with your sound technical background, you will bring:

  • electrical trade qualifications     
  • NSW Electrical licence 
  • a commitment to your own safety, wellbeing, and care for others
  • experience with manufacturing equipment and the ability to utilise electrical schematics to establish root cause
  • experience working both independently and as part of a manufacturing team
  • high attention to detail with the ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently
  • fault finding and problem-solving ability in a cross-discipline team environment
