The Opportunity

Come and discover the opportunity to join our Supply Chain team at our Service Centre as a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, this fast-paced site located in Acacia Ridge operates a continuous production environment. In this busy site that handles over 500,000 tonnes of steel per year, you will have direct impact on the delivery performance of BlueScope Australian Steel Products.

In this business-critical role, you will be supporting the production team by ensuring equipment is maintained to the highest standard to meet our objectives for safety, quality, and reliability. You will be providing hands-on maintenance services to our production teams in a continuous manufacturing environment, so we can continue to make and deliver our world-class product to our valued customers.

What Will You Do?

With your proven understanding of industrial mechanical systems, you will:

• be the first and main point of contact for equipment issues and maintenance
• contribute to the mechanical operation of the site, and formulate the best diagnoses for continued operational efficiency
• regularly inspect the equipment and conduct critical fault-finding, ensuring quality of product is never compromised
• contribute and participate on key maintenance strategy projects

The Acacia Ridge Service Centre operates 24×7. The roster for this position is a rotating 12 hour shift, working 2 days, 2 nights and 4 days off.

More About You

With a background in a mechanical trade, you will have exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving ability. You will also bring:

• mechanical fitter/machinist qualifications consisting of either a Certificate III, Certificate IV, or Diploma
• technical skills relating to the repair and maintenance aspects of plant and equipment on site
• strong mechanical experience in key areas such as - pneumatics, hydraulics, fabricating, welding
• a commitment to your own safety and wellbeing and care for others
• strong attention to detail with the ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently
