The Opportunity
Come and discover the opportunity to join our Hot Mills Engineering team at our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility as a Process Computing Engineer. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.
The Hot Mills Engineering team is undertaking automation projects across the business and requires an enthusiastic, motivated, and experienced professional to deliver safe, innovative, efficient, and cost-effective automation outcomes to meet business plans.

What Will You Do?
You will provide routine process computing improvements, develop, assess and implement operation technology projects, and continuous improvement across the Hot Mills businesses.
You will:
- provide day to day process computing and software engineering support, analysis and fault rectification.
- lead and implement process computing capital and improvement projects.
- manage, maintain and improve the systems for control, information management, infrastructure and interfaces of the Hot Mills process computing systems.
- provide technical support and liaison to meet operational needs, planned maintenance and after hours support to ensure performance, reliability and quality of Hot Mills
More About You
We are after critical thinkers with strong analytical skills, who also have:
- a degree qualification in Engineering (Computer, Telecommunications or Electrical), Computer Science or similar relevant tertiary Engineering/IT qualifications
- strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- experience with real time computer systems, control systems in heavy industry, and web based technology or data communications and standards are desirable
- experience with Windows, Linux, programming (Java, C++, Fortran) and computing hardware will be highly regarded.
