About This Role

The Medical Director, Neuropsychiatry (NP) role is a part of US Medical, a strategic partner within Biogen, that helps inform medical practice across our therapeutic areas and pipeline to improve meaningful patient outcomes.  As a key member of the US Neuropsychiatry Medical Director office team reporting to the NA Neuropsychiatry Head, the Medical Director – Neuropsychiatry is medically accountable for supporting the development and implementation of the US Medical Strategy for Biogen’s Neuropsychiatry therapeutic area commercialized products and related assets. What You’ll Do

  • Support the long-range planning, development and execution of the US medical strategy, tactics, and budget in alignment with US budgetary expectations. 
  • Serve as one of the US Medical experts within medical strategy and lead some medical content strategy projects in collaboration with members of the US Medical Director Office.
  • Serve as one of the US Medical contacts for key functions/stakeholders at the US affiliate level (e.g. Field Medical Teams (MSLs, Medical Account Directors), Commercial, Market Access, Legal/Compliance, Epidemiology, Pharmacovigilance), effectively interacting and collaborating at multiple levels. 
  • Support the US Medical NP evidence generation strategy in collaboration with global medical, HEOR and alliance partners.
  • Contribute to the development/adaptation and review of medical materials (e.g. presentations, trainings, medical briefs and talking points) for the US Medical team according to DSMR requirements and manage submission processes.
  • Present data at US Medical affairs events, including advisory boards and trainings as well as congresses & medical education events.  Build and nurture relationships with external stakeholders (including HCPs, healthcare institutions and advocacy groups) in Neuropsychiatry therapeutic landscape.
  • Create positive team climate in alignment with Biogen’s culture.

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • MD, PhD, PharmD or comparable advanced degree
  • Minimum of 2 years as an Associate Medical Director (or Medical Director) in a head office Medical Affairs role (e.g. US or Global Medical Affairs) OR 5 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, preferably with prior work in Headquarters-based Medical Affairs role. Substitution of industry work in medical affairs with relevant clinical practice experience in Psychiatry may be considered.
  • Relevant experience in Psychiatry required
  • Strong working knowledge of Regulations as relevant to Medical Affairs

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with medical launch as well as products at different stages of the lifecycle from a Headquarters-based Medical Affairs role
  • Additional experience in Women’s health would be an advantage
  • Experience with an Alliance partner
  • Experience in evidence generation preferred
  • Ability to manage projects and take initiative to solve complex and challenging problems

The base compensation range for this role is $192,900 to $321,500. Base salary is determined by a combination of factors including, but not limited to, job related years of relevant experience, internal equity, and location of the job. Additionally, this role is eligible for participation in Biogen’s LTI grants and other incentive programs.
