Job Description

Summary 

This application is for a 12-week internship role from June - August 2024. Resume review begins in January 2024. 

The selected candidate will be joining the upstream pilot development team. This team is responsible for scaling up cell culture processes so that they will fit into Biogen’s manufacturing facilities. Responsibilities include supporting tech transfer, facility fit, troubleshooting manufacturing campaigns, execution of process development experiments and innovating on new technologies that can be implemented at the pilot and manufacturing scale. This work helps Biogen development efficient high yield commercial processes to make therapeutics for patients. 

 

Position Description 

This role will be supporting the creation of a cross-site Tableau dashboard, creation of PI vision displays to support campaign monitoring and real time data analysis and integrating events in Single Use Bioreators phases in DeltaV. Day to day responsibilities will include attending project meetings, learning how to use Tableau and PI Vision, data verification in displays from data source and providing general team support. The project will start with identifying the program to create a dashboard for and creating a project team and then start meetings to work through project goals, then a display with cross-site data will be published for Tableau users to use for campaign monitoring or data mining. Deliverables will be the cross-site Tableau display, PI Vision displays to help the analysis of real-time lab data. 

 

Example projects may include: 

  • Project 1: Creating cross-site Tableau Display 

  • Project 2: Creating PI Vision displays for the pilot lab 

  • Project 3: Creating event frame triggers for Single Use Bioreactor phases 

  • Project 4: Using Python or R to create custom web application for the business

Qualifications

Qualifications: 

  • Passion and interest in integration/automation of scientific data 

  • Priority experience with Tableau/PI OSI/DeltaV would be preferred 

  • Experience with Microsoft office (Excel, Powerpoint, etc.) 

  • Ability to work in a team environment to complete project work 

 

To participate in the Biogen Internship Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria: 

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. 

  • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date 

  • Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university 

 

Education 

BAs and data science or science majors would be preferred.
