Job Description

The Head of Global Security is responsible for overseeing all aspects of security operations and risk management on a global scale. The primary objective will be to ensure the safety and protection of the company's assets, employees, and intellectual property. This role will involve developing and implementing comprehensive security strategies, policies, and protocols to mitigate potential threats and safeguard the company's operations.

The Head of Global Security is instrumental in ensuring the safety, security, and resilience of the organization's operations and assets across the globe. This position requires a dynamic leader who can navigate complex security challenges, build strong relationships, and drive a culture of security awareness throughout the organization

Your Responsibilities

Security Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and lead the implementation of a comprehensive global security strategy aligned with the company's overall objectives and risk profile.
  • Conduct security risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities and create mitigation plans.
  • Regularly review and update security policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure they align with industry best practices and comply with relevant regulations.

Physical Security Management:

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of physical security measures for company facilities, including access control systems, surveillance cameras, and perimeter security.
  • Coordinate with regional security managers to ensure consistency and adherence to global security standards across all company locations.

Personnel Security:

  • Establish and enforce employee security awareness and training programs to promote a culture of security consciousness throughout the organization.
  • Work with HR and relevant departments to conduct background checks and security vetting for key personnel and contractors.

Cybersecurity and Information Protection:

  • Collaborate with the IT department to develop and implement robust cybersecurity measures, ensuring the protection of sensitive data and intellectual property from cyber threats.
  • Stay updated on emerging cyber threats and vulnerabilities and lead efforts to enhance the company's cybersecurity posture.

Product and Supply Chain Security:

  • Oversee the implementation, and maintenance of product and supply chain security measures for commercial and clinical products and associated supply chains.
  • Collaborate with Global Supply Chain and Quality to investigate and respond to customer complaints and external incidents involving product illegal diversion, counterfeiting, and tampering.

Security Compliance:

  • Ensure the company's security practices are in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Work closely with legal and compliance teams to address security-related legal issues and maintain appropriate documentation.

Security Vendor Management:

  • Identify and engage with external security vendors and contractors to provide specialized security services when needed.
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure their adherence to agreed-upon service levels.

Budgeting and Resource Management:

  • Develop and manage the security department's budget, ensuring optimal utilization of resources to meet security goals and objectives.

Reporting and Communication:

  • Provide regular security updates and reports to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to raise awareness of security risks and propose strategies to address them.

    Qualifications

    Your Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field (e.g., Security Management, Criminal Justice, Risk Management, etc.); Graduate degree in Business desirable
    • Minimum of 15 years of experience in security management, with at least 7 years in a leadership role.
    • Proven experience in security management, preferably in a biotechnology or healthcare-related industry.
    • Knowledge of global security regulations, industry best practices, and emerging security trends.
    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and lead a diverse security team.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with different departments and stakeholders including significant interface with BOD and Executive Committee members
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and anticipate potential risks.
    • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to risk management and compliance.
    • Ability to liaison ability with federal, state, and local law enforcement and intelligence agencies
    • Member of Global Security associations (PSI, ISMA, PCSC)
    • Professional certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) are a plus.
