Associate Scientist III, Biophysical Assays

Job Description
Develop and execute a variety of biophysical assays to help accelerate our drug discovery efforts from exploratory through lead identification and optimization. Be highly organized and have an ability to support several projects at one time. Design and perform detailed characterization of screening hits and optimized compounds using primarily Surface Plasmon Resonance, but also employ other novel biophysical techniques (Isothermal Titration Calorimetry, Differential Scanning Fluorimetry, Dynamic Light Scattering, Microscale Thermophoresis, and Second Harmonic Generation). Work both independently and as part of a team to ensure project team goals and deliverables are met. Communicate effectively and present results in cross-functional team meetings. Troubleshoot and solve scientific problems with minimal supervision. Independently operate and maintain specialized lab equipment. Demonstrate capability of independent assay development and troubleshooting.
· TELECOMMUTING: POSITION IS FIXED BASED IN CAMBRIDGE, MA OFFICE; HOWEVER, TELECOMMUTING IS OCCASIONALLY ALLOWED FROM HOME OFFICE.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Requires a Master’s degree in Biophysics, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biological/Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, or a directly related field plus one (1) year of relevant experience in an industrial or academic lab.
MUST HAVE AT LEAST ONE (1) YEAR OF EXPERIENCE IN THE FOLLOWING (EXPERIENCE MAY BE GAINED CONCURRENTLY):
· EXPERIENCE WITH BIOPHYSICAL ASSAY METHODS, INCLUDING SPR, ITC, DSF, MST, OR SHG.
· EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH PROTEINS, INCLUDING BASIC MOLECULAR CLONING, PROTEIN EXPRESSION, PRODUCTION, OR CHARACTERIZATION.
· EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH BIOCHEMICAL ASSAYS, INCLUDING TR-FRET OR ELISA.
· EXPERIENCE WITH MS OFFICE, GRAPHPAD PRISM, AND POWERPOINT.
