As a Backend Engineer at Bilue, you’ll play a pivotal role in building scalable, high-performance applications using Java, Kotlin, and Spring Boot. You'll collaborate with a high-performing team of engineers who prioritise code quality, best practices, and delivering impactful solutions. Your work will directly influence how we build and scale our technology, ensuring we stay ahead in a rapidly evolving world. While experience with AWS and containers is not essential, it’s a strong nice to have and will be valued in this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Write world-class, efficient, and scalable code using Java, Kotlin, and Spring Boot.
• Build and optimise APIs - design, develop, and maintain RESTful and GraphQL API's that power seamless integrations.
• Solve complex challenges in system design, microservices, and scalability.
• Lead technical discussions and design reviews to ensure high standards of excellence.
• Take ownership of the full software development lifecycle, from architecture to deployment and maintenance.
• Champion best practices in code reviews, architecture, and development processes.
• Foster a culture of collaboration in cross-functional teams, participating in stand-ups, retrospectives, and sprint planning.
• Stay ahead of the game by continuously learning new technologies, tools, and industry trends.

• 5+ years of experience in backend development with both Kotlin and Java.
• Deep knowledge of Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices.
• A passion for clean, maintainable, and testable code – quality is non-negotiable.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication.
• Experience with AWS and containers to help build scalable infrastructure would be a strong bonus.
• Knowledge of other backend technologies and frameworks will be a plus.
