Job Description
The Senior Marketing Operations Manager is a senior individual contributor responsible for designing, building, and governing the marketing operations infrastructure that supports demand generation, product launches, lead management, campaign execution, and AI-enabled marketing workflows. This role sets the technical and operational standards the Marketing Operations function executes within, and advises leadership on marketing technology roadmap decisions. It collaborates with Marketing, Revenue Operations, Sales, Customer Success, Product Marketing, Digital Marketing, IT, Legal, and Information Security stakeholders to improve lead lifecycle performance, reduce manual work, ensure data quality, and deliver scalable systems and automations. A primary objective of the role is enabling marketing agility: identifying and removing the operational constraints that slow campaign execution so the organization can respond to market and sales-driven priorities on compressed timelines. The role requires deep practical application of marketing automation platforms, CRM workflows, analytics, APIs, AI tooling, and process improvement methodologies. Automation, data, and AI work in this role is scoped by marketing outcome rather than by system: it spans any platform that produces signal marketing can act on, including conversation intelligence, intent, CRM, and marketing automation sources, and is distinct from enterprise-wide business process automation owned outside the marketing organization.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable marketing automation frameworks across campaign intake, email, nurture programs, forms, landing pages, lead scoring, routing, segmentation, suppression logic, and attribution.
- Translate launch and campaign requirements into reusable operational patterns that improve speed, consistency, and governance for the broader team.
- Evaluate platform capabilities and integration options, and advise leadership on marketing technology roadmap decisions.
- Build targeted marketing automations that complement, rather than duplicate, the enterprise automation roadmap, and deliver structured, reliable data that improves the inputs available to enterprise automation and decisioning work.
- Own technical design and optimization of lead capture, enrichment, deduplication, scoring, routing, SLA monitoring, and handoff processes in partnership with Revenue and Sales teams.
- Diagnose and resolve complex lead flow and integration failures affecting conversion, speed-to-lead, attribution, and pipeline visibility, including issues escalated by the team.
- Evaluate what data exists across the revenue and marketing platform ecosystem, including conversation intelligence, intent, CRM, and marketing automation sources, and determine how it should be extracted, routed, and operationalized.
- Identify and implement AI-assisted and automation-driven workflows that reduce repetitive campaign production, QA, reporting, documentation, and operational triage.
- Develop approved prompt libraries, workflow templates, and governance practices that enable marketing teams to use AI safely and consistently.
- Determine how extracted and integrated data should be applied through automation and AI to drive audience targeting, prioritization, campaign triggers, and operational decision making.
- Align marketing AI practices with enterprise automation and AI governance standards
- Establish and maintain operational standards for UTMs, campaign hierarchies, audience criteria, consent and suppression logic, data hygiene, QA checklists, naming conventions, and launch readiness.
- Partner with channel owners to ensure campaigns are built accurately, governed consistently, and can be measured effectively.
- Develop dashboards, reports, and operational scorecards that monitor funnel performance, automation impact, campaign execution quality, data health, and productivity gains.
- Use Excel, BI tools, MAP/CRM reporting, and SQL or equivalent methods to communicate insights and inform decisions.
- Engage stakeholders across Marketing, Revenue Operations, Sales, Customer Success, Product, IT, Legal, and Information Security to gather requirements and align automation and lead operations improvements with business objectives.
- Provide guidance to Marketing Operations peers on tools, processes, standards, and AI-enabled workflows without direct supervisory authority.
- Identify and eliminate operational bottlenecks that constrain campaign turnaround time, enabling Marketing to respond to market and sales-driven requests on compressed timelines.
- Design and maintain the operational infrastructure, templates, and automations that allow campaigns to be launched quickly without sacrificing data quality or governance.
- Monitor developments in marketing technology, AI, analytics, and automation, and assess their applicability to the marketing operations environment.
- Own ongoing optimization, maintenance, and evolution of implemented systems and automations as operational needs change.
Qualifications
YOU’VE GOT WHAT IT TAKES IF YOU HAVE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Information Systems, Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 6+ years of marketing experience, preferably within a SaaS or technology organization, with a focus on marketing operations, marketing automation, revenue operations, or digital campaign operations.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with CRM and marketing automation platforms to build, measure, and optimize campaigns and operational workflows.
- Advanced working knowledge of Salesforce, Pardot, Marketo, HubSpot, or comparable enterprise marketing automation platforms, including administration and configuration.
- Working knowledge of APIs, integration tooling, and SQL or equivalent query methods sufficient to build reporting and diagnose integration failures.
- Working knowledge of Power BI, Tableau, or a comparable business intelligence platform.
- Working knowledge of data privacy, consent management, suppression requirements, and information security practices as they apply to marketing data and communications.
- Familiarity with multi-touch attribution models and marketing analytics tooling.
- Familiarity with B2B SaaS revenue operations practices, including lead lifecycle design, SLA models, and sales handoff processes.
- Familiarity with conversation intelligence and intent data platforms such as Gong, Gong Engage, and 6sense, including how their data can be extracted and operationalized for marketing use.
IT WOULD BE NICE IF YOU:
- Experience supporting a healthcare, education, or other regulated B2B SaaS marketing organization.
- Relevant platform certifications such as Salesforce Administrator, Marketo Certified Expert, or Pardot Specialist.
Experience evaluating and selecting marketing technology platforms as part of a stack consolidation or migration.
