Job Description
People Director, India & South Asia
Direct Line Reporting: Vice President – HR, International
Dotted Line Reporting: General Manager, Operations – India & South Asia
Role Overview:
The People Director will be a strategic and operational leader responsible for shaping and executing the organization’s people strategy. This role partners closely with senior leadership to enable business growth, build strong organizational capability, ensure compliance, and foster a high-performance, inclusive culture.
The People Director leads a team of 7 people, including 3 HRBPs/TAs, HR Operations, L&D and Facilities, providing HR support for over 300+ employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary HR partner for the India & South Asia geography, translating Group priorities into locally relevant people strategies. Additionally, the People Director will be responsible for providing HR governance for the Global Operations team and the setup of Capability Centre for Operations such as Finance, Data analytics, etc.
- Support scale, capability maturity, and global delivery expectations. Align Capability Centre HR practices with global standards while ensuring compliance with local regulations. Enable workforce planning, talent pipelines, and succession for critical Global roles.
- Own and drive the end-to-end HR agenda, including strategy execution, workforce planning, compliance governance, talent management, and change initiatives, while ensuring alignment between local business needs and global objectives. Oversee end-to-end talent acquisition for BU, Global Operations and Capability Centre roles.
- Partner closely with local leadership to support business requirements and build people readiness for change. Translate Group HR strategy into actionable local plans, ensuring cultural relevance and legal compliance.
- Lead and coordinate local change, transformation, and employee engagement initiatives, and support the integration of newly acquired teams (PMI) to ensure cohesion with existing operations.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with local Labor laws and Group HR policies, while providing workforce insights that support cross-functional and transversal alignment. Act as a local champion for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion by adapting global DE&I priorities to local realities.
- Hold the annual and long-range budgeting for People costs, Administration, and Facilities across Units. Partner with Finance to plan and control headcount budgets, compensation costs, benefits, hiring plans, and productivity metrics. Monitor and manage administration and facilities budgets including workplace infrastructure, travel, vendor contracts, and employee services.
- This role reports in a solid-line to the Vice President – HR, International. This role leads the local HR and facilities team
Requirement:
- 15+ years of human resource leadership experience in a fast-growing international environment (technology, services, media & entertainment)
- Has proven experience in people management
- An ideal candidate will demonstrate strong business acumen and strategic thinking, with experience working with local and central teams.
- Resourceful, with a high energy level; results-oriented, a self-starter, a team player, and able to thrive in a fluid and dynamic environment.
- Possess excellent influencing and interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and able to develop and forge positive professional relationships with all levels of the organisation
- Possess strong analytical skills and able to solve complex issues quickly and creatively
Qualifications
- Graduation or Post Graduation in Human Resources, or similar field
