Job Description
Maintenance Assistant role is to ensure the smooth operation of all electrical and mechanical equipment in the paint manufacturing facility by performing preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance. The role requires strong troubleshooting skills, adherence to safety standards and support for continuous improvement initiatives to minimize downtime and optimize production efficiency.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance on production machinery, utilities and facility equipment (electrical and mechanical).
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including motors, drives, control panels, sensors and wiring.
- Maintain and repair mechanical equipment such as pumps, mixers, grinding mills, compressors, grounding systems, chillers, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, ovens, dust collectors and blowers.
- Support installation, commissioning and modification of new equipment and machinery.
- Monitor and maintain utilities (air compressors, air dryers, chillers, air conditioning etc.) to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders and equipment history logs.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, fire & safety standards).
- Collaborate with production teams and all other stakeholders to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance.
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement projects.
- Maintain proper inventory of tools, spare parts and consumables.
Integrated Management System (IMS) Responsibilities:
- Recognize and observe IMS policy.
- Comply with integrated management system (IMS) policy to improve work process.
- Comply and implement the controls required to mitigate the risks involved in the workplaces and surrounding areas.
- Implement EHS and Energy Operational controls in the workplace.
Qualifications
Relevant Training and Experience
- Diploma/ITI in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Minimum 4 years of experience in maintenance (preferably in manufacturing/paint/chemical/FMCG industry)
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems (motors, drives, PLCs, control circuits, wiring), static electricity.
Key Skills, Knowledge and Behaviors Required
- Hands-on experience with mechanical systems (pumps, mixers, gearboxes, hydraulics & pneumatics).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical/mechanical drawings and manuals
- Basic knowledge of safety standards and preventive maintenance practices.
- Good problem-solving, troubleshooting and communication skills.
- Willingness to work in shifts and respond to breakdowns outside normal hours if required.
- Previous experience in paint, chemical, or related process manufacturing industries.
- Knowledge of hazardous area equipment (ATEX/Explosion-proof) and safety in chemical handling.
- Ability to work in a factory environment with exposure to noise, humid weather conditions and machinery.
- Must be physically fit to handle tools, climb ladders and perform manual tasks as required.
