Marketing Manager, Catalog and Print (Remote Option)

Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced manager to lead our catalog and print marketing efforts. The role will be responsible for developing and executing the company's catalog and direct mail marketing strategies, driving revenue and business growth, and overseeing the development and management of the company's catalog products. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in catalog and direct mail marketing, strong leadership, and collaboration skills, and be passionate about driving business growth through effective marketing strategies.
This full-time position reports to the Director of Marketing for Balsam Hill US (BHUS) and can work remote from any U.S. state where Balsam Brands is currently setup as an employer, which includes: CA, CO, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, MD, MA, MO, NJ, NC, OH, OR, PA, TN, TX, VA, and WA. This role can also work locally in our Redwood City, CA or Boise, ID office location. Our local teams work in a hybrid model, which currently includes Tuesday and Wednesday in-office.
To ensure sufficient overlap with functional and cross-functional team members globally, some flexibility with this role's regular work schedule will be required. Most of our teams have overlap with early morning and/or early evening PST. Specific scheduling needs for this role will be discussed in the initial interview.
What you’ll do:
Overall, the Marketing Manager for Catalog and Print plays a critical role in ensuring that a company's product catalog is comprehensive, accurate, and easy to use, which in turn helps to drive sales and customer satisfaction.
- Develop and execute the company's catalog and direct mail marketing strategy to drive revenue and business growth. This includes spearheading recommendations of the right mix between house vs prospecting, circulation strategy, forecasting and understanding how to analyze detailed match-back reporting
- Oversee the development and management of the company's catalog products, ensuring that they are aligned with the company's strategic goals and customer needs
- Lead our vendor relationships with the mills, printer, and distributor. This role will lead distribution conversations, securing paper, negotiating costs, and working with our distributor to ensure catalogs and print pieces are in homes as scheduled. This role requires a strong project manager skill set to ensure deadlines are met both internally with our creative team and externally to our mills, printer and distributor
- Manage a global team of print marketing professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and support as needed across geos
- Collaborate with Merchandising, Business Management, Creative and other teams to ensure that catalog marketing initiatives are aligned with overall company objectives
- Analyze marketing data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and develop recommendations for optimizing marketing efforts. Being about to successfully forecast, reduce costs while improving revenue will be critical to this role’s success
- Develop and manage the catalog marketing budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and efficiently and consistently look for ways to improve both margin costs and revenue
- Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and best practices in catalog marketing, enhancing our digital catalog experience and provide thought leadership and guidance to the broader organization
You’ll be successful if you:
- Have a strong understanding of the print production process and how to manage it efficiently
- Understand circulation strategies, how to best target the right customer between house vs prospecting and find areas to improve costs while increasing revenue
- Are highly organized and detail-oriented to ensure accuracy and quality in all printed materials
- Possess excellent communication skills to work effectively with designers, copywriters, and other team members
- Stay up-to-date with the latest design trends and printing technologies to produce innovative and visually appealing catalogs
- Can manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines
- Have managed a team of 2 or more people in different geographies
- Have a good understanding of marketing and advertising principles to create effective print campaigns
- Are proficient in project management tools and software to track progress and manage budgets effectively
- Can analyze data and insights to improve the performance of printed materials and make data-driven decisions
What you bring to the table:
- 7+ years of experience in catalog marketing
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related field preferred; ample experience may be accepted in lieu of degree
- Proven track record of driving business growth through effective catalog marketing strategies
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop effective strategies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- Experience managing budgets and allocating resources effectively and efficiently
- Strong knowledge of catalog marketing best practices and emerging trends
- A team player and collaborator approach
Travel for remote team members: At Balsam Brands, we believe that time spent together, in-person, collaborating and building relationships is important to who we are. For our newest remote Brandits, we will arrange travel to one of our local offices within your first three months of employment so you can meet and train with your new team in-person. You may also get to travel an additional 2 – 3 times a year for events such as team retreats, offsites, or learning and development opportunities.
