Job Description
As the Marketplace Manager, you will be responsible for setting the strategic direction to grow the marketplace business. Historically Balsam Brands has been a Direct-to-Consumer retailer through our own managed ecommerce websites. We are trying to grow our brands through the marketplace sales channel by capturing customers looking for our products on their preferred ecommerce marketplaces, introducing new customers to our brands, and defending our brands and category position against competing brands.
You will be responsible to set the long-term strategic plan for growing the marketplace business, and then determine the corresponding annual initiatives and KPIs to achieve the goals. You will be responsible for managing the business P&L, maintaining the marketing budget, overseeing marketplace advertising, developing an annual sales goal, managing work with cross-functional partners as needed, and managing work with external partners that support the marketplace growth initiative.
This position reports to the Growth Director. This is a full-time position located in our Boise, Idaho office. This role is expected to work in a hybrid model, which includes two days in-office.
What you’ll do:
- Manage the long-term marketplace plan and set-up new partnerships
- Set annual goals and supporting KPIs and initiatives
- Manage the overall Marketplace P&L including the marketing budget
- Work with external partners that support the marketplace business
- Oversee the day-to-day work of the Marketplace Analyst and working with them to develop tests/tactics to improve performance
- Review sales reports
- Analyze business performance – daily monitoring of sales and KPIs
- Manage work with cross-functional partners as needed
- Set up new products and optimize existing products
- Troubleshoot marketplace issues
- Monitor marketplace advertising
You’ll be successful if you have experience managing a business or project, setting a strategy, and determining the tactics required to achieve the goals while staying in budget and on schedule.
What you bring to the table:
- 8+ years of experience in managing a business with P&L responsibility or projects with a financial budget and impact
- Familiarity with the ecommerce sales funnel and tactics to drive sales conversion
- Experience with Seller Central on Amazon, or other marketplaces
- Use of a data-driven approach to set a revenue plan, profit, and advertising budgets
- Strong communication skills to be able to manage and influence stakeholders at all levels
- History of autonomous work without direct regular oversite
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
