Job Description
The Senior Quantity Surveyor plays a critical role in managing and overseeing the cost aspects of the assigned construction projects. This position requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in quantity surveying, a thorough understanding of construction methodologies, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. This role is a Subject Matter Expert level position.
- Cost Management:
- Develop, manage, and monitor project budgets, ensuring accurate cost estimation and allocation for various project elements.
- Conduct thorough cost analysis to identify potential savings, cost overruns, and provide recommendations for cost-effective solutions.
- Quantity Surveying:
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs and measurements for materials, labor, and equipment required for construction projects.
- Regularly update and maintain accurate records of quantities, variations, and cost implications throughout the project lifecycle.
- Contract Administration:
- Administer and manage construction subcontracts, ensuring compliance with contract terms and conditions.
- Collaborate with legal and procurement teams to negotiate favourable terms and conditions in subcontracts with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Cost Reporting:
- Generate and present regular cost reports to project stakeholders, highlighting budget variances and potential risks.
- Provide insights into financial trends, cost forecasts, and budgetary implications.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- Participate in project meetings, providing expert advice on cost-related matters.
- Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks related to costs and propose mitigation strategies to ensure the financial success of projects.
- Collaborate with project teams to implement risk management plans and monitor risk factors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that all quantity surveying activities adhere to industry standards, company policies, and relevant regulations.
- Implement and maintain quality assurance processes for cost-related activities within the Technical Department.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on industry trends, construction technologies, and cost management best practices.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in quantity surveying processes.
- Leadership
- Manage and lead a package or multiple packages of work of up to $300M.
- Oversee and mentor QS, Junior QS and graduate staff.
- Be responsible for the outputs of the team associated with the package or packages of work assigned.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, materials, and cost management principles.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- RICS or CIOB membership
- Minimum experience of 10 years in quantity surveying within the construction industry, preferably with a Main Contractor. Middle East experience is highly preferred.
