Job Description

This role requires a strong technical skill in design software, coupled with leadership qualities to inspire teams. He must excel in problem-solving and have a proactive approach to design challenges. A solid grasp of project management principles, including budgeting and risk management, is essential.

  • Design Coordination:
    • Collaborate closely with architects, structural engineers, and other relevant stakeholders to develop comprehensive design solutions for the stadium's steel works.
    • Oversee the creation of detailed design drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to guide construction activities.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Manage a team of designers and engineers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure their professional development and project success.
    • Allocate resources effectively, ensuring that the team operates efficiently to meet project deadlines.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Implement rigorous quality control measures to ensure that design outputs meet the highest standards of accuracy, functionality, and safety.
    • Conduct regular reviews and audits of design documentation to identify and address any discrepancies or deficiencies promptly.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify potential risks and challenges associated with design elements, proactively implementing mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions.
    • Collaborate with project stakeholders to resolve design-related issues in a timely and efficient manner, maintaining project momentum.
  • Budget and Schedule Management:
    • Work closely with the project management team to develop and maintain design budgets and schedules, ensuring adherence to project timelines and financial constraints.
    • Monitor project expenditures related to design activities, identifying opportunities for cost optimization without compromising quality.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
    • Foster open and transparent communication channels with internal teams and external stakeholders, facilitating effective collaboration and information sharing.
    • Present design proposals, progress updates, and recommendations to project stakeholders, ensuring alignment with project objectives and requirements.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong technical proficiency in design software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla Structures) and familiarity with relevant design codes and standards.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members towards common goals.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing design-related challenges.
  • Solid understanding of project management principles, including budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
  • Clear communication and ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent English language skills. Additional languages, especially Arabic can be a plus.
  • Open to work across all countries of the Middle East.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Extensive experience in design management, with a focus on large-scale building projects involving steel works, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Minimum of 3 to 4 years of experience on the actual role as Design Manager.
  • Extensive experience in client-facing roles, able to effectively engage and manage client interactions.
