Job Description
You will be performing all types of surveys such as topographic, hydrographic, geodetic, control, engineering, and route surveys of varying degrees of accuracy, under the supervision of Project Surveyor, Senior Hydrographic Surveyor and Head of Survey Department.
- Understand basic concepts of coordinates systems, vertical datums, geodetic controls, topography, positioning, hydrography, etc.
- Prepare method statement and risk assessment related to scope of work and project specifications.
- Check surveys prepared by others for accuracy and relevance, prepare design surface as required.
- Schedule and plan mobilization of barge positioning and hydrographic surveys.
- Establishes horizontal and vertical controls on new projects by use of conventional survey techniques and/or GNSS.
- Able to install, configure, test, and run topographic, positioning, and hydrographic survey equipment.
- Able to check and perform necessary calibration of equipment before commencement of work: position and heading check, bar check, patch test, etc.; keep records and logs.
- Incumbent performs field surveys to gather basic engineering data or to verify design data.
- Performs “pre, “progress” and “post” construction surveys, including data acquisition, processing, and charting.
- Monitor positioning vessels and barges for various requirements (e.g., dredging, dumping, rockworks, piling, pipe laying, etc.).
- Ensure that the project is executed in accordance with the Survey Manual, applicable QC plan, and project data package or as directed by the Project Surveyor, Senior Hydrographic Surveyor or Survey Manager.
- Check and assist in the preparation of project chart drawings or other related deliverables.
- Initiate preparation of survey progress and final reports; keep proper and organized filing of safety and quality records, and survey data.
- Keep the equipment in good condition as per manufacturer maintenance and safety instructions.
- Follow Company safety rules, local safety law and regulations, and Department procedures.
- Promote safe practices and safe place of work through method statement and risk assessment regular review, job safety analysis, weekly safety and technical toolbox talks, daily task briefing, etc., and report any unsafe act.
- Observe and keep up with the Quality & HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) responsibilities, and produce records as required by the safety and quality management system.
- Contribute to the continual review and improvement of the safety and quality management system.
Qualifications
- You should have at least 5 years of experience in Marine/ Hydrographic surveying, preferably in the UAE, Qatar or Middle East.
- Bachelor’s degree in surveying, Geomatics, Marine Science or related science field.
- Project experience with single beam and/or multibeam hydrographic surveys.
- Candidate must have specialized training, specific equipment course, membership, etc.
- Knowledgeable in Survey positioning, acquisition, and processing software
