Job Description
About the role:
The Solutions Deployment Engineer is a hybrid role combining site deployment execution, software integration engineering, and customer technical consulting. Acting as the technical check-and-balance and being a core member of the Solutions Implementation Services team, this role is responsible for end-to-end implementation—from analyzing client software landscapes and designing API/data interfaces to physical hardware configuration, on-site commissioning, user training, and hypercare support.
Key Responsibilities:
This is a remote position operating in a hybrid capacity, requiring 25%–30% travel for customer site surveys, commissioning, and go-live activities.
Site Assessment & Deployment Execution: Conduct site surveys to evaluate client IT and physical environments against prerequisites. Lead on-site and remote setup, device network connectivity, configuration, and functional commissioning of Avery Dennison digital solutions and hardware.
Software Integration & Data Architecture: Analyze customer software architecture (ERP, WMS, MES) and design required data exchange interfaces, API integrations, and network infrastructure setups (VPNs, firewalls, network topology, remote access). Work with the product team to develop integration software components when required.
Technical Infrastructure & Hardware Governance: Guide the setup, calibration, and troubleshooting of hardware required for our solutions (e.g., RFID Printers, undermount readers, tunnels, HDRC). Ensure full compliance with GS1 standards (GTIN, SGTIN/EPC) and EPCIS business processes if applicable.
Cross-Functional Alignment & Project Scoping: Partner with Delivery Managers and Product Owners (POs) to establish deployment timelines, scoping documents, and access technical requirements.
Hypercare, Troubleshooting & Customer Enablement: Serve as the primary go-to technical resource during hypercare phases to resolve site blockers, log defect tickets, contribute to SOPs/playbooks, deliver end-user training, and ensure smooth operational transitions to support teams.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
IT & Technical Foundation: Strong background in general IT, networking security, and cloud-based software environments. Experience with API design, software development (e.g., C# / .NET Core / Python), and hardware integration.
Customer-Facing Experience: Mandatory background in technical consulting, customer-facing delivery, or solutions engineering within global, multi-cultural enterprise environments.
Domain & Standards Expertise: Knowledge of GS1 standards, RFID infrastructure, and agile software development workflows.
AI & Data Tools: Proficiency and knowledge in leveraging AI tools to enhance daily workflows, data transformation, and analysis.
Soft Skills & Travel Commitment: Proactive mindset with strong technical problem-solving skills under live go-live pressure, excellent collaboration skills, clear communication abilities, and willingness to travel (25%–30%) for customer site surveys, commissioning, and go-live activities.
