Job Description
The Senior Electrical Engineer will be part of the Hardware Development team developing new products for Avery Dennison including, but not limited to, portable and industrial thermal barcode printers, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification), wireless solutions, accessories and services. Individuals in this role utilize project management tools and individual creativity to resolve complex design and materials problems to develop novel and successful products. The Senior Electrical Engineer works closely with other corporate technical, manufacturing, and marketing resources, manages milestones, participates in architectural review, and contributes to top-line growth objectives.
This is a full-time, on-site position located in Miamisburg, OH.
Key responsibilities include:
Design new products from the initial concept phase through to mass production while successfully balancing and prioritizing several projects at once.
Participate as an active member of an innovative hardware development team, contributing heavily during conceptual design, performing technical design reviews, and driving architectural strategic planning sessions.
Present design information and effectively communicate with cross-functional teams while leveraging internal and external experts to accomplish organizational goals.
Maintain a proactive awareness of industry advances in emerging technology, design standards, and competitive intellectual property.
Provide technical support for existing printer product lines—including resolving manufacturing yield issues and addressing field quality concerns—and evaluate alternative electronic components using a methodical problem-solving approach to mitigate supply chain disruptions or component obsolescence.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 6+ years of engineering experience with an emphasis on Mixed Signal Circuit Design.
Mastery of electrical engineering best practices, advanced circuit modeling/simulation/troubleshooting experience (LTSpice, TINA, etc.), advanced analysis tools, and proficient laboratory knowledge.
Advanced electrical circuit design experience encompassing schematic capture and PCB layout utilizing Mentor Graphics or Altium tools.
Extensive technical experience with RFID, SPI, I2C, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB, analog, power circuits, precision motor drive circuits, and thermal printhead control logic.
Proven track record with global regulatory approvals and maintenance for EMC and Safety, alongside a demonstrated competency with test equipment including oscilloscopes, data collectors, electronic loads, and spectrum analyzers.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the self-motivation to independently initiate and implement goal-oriented tasks, strategies, and techniques that increase productivity and profitability, while successfully fostering a collaborative team culture in a fast-paced environment.
