Team Supervisor: Lead the Future of Operations at Avery Dennison

We are seeking a Team Supervisor who is ready to leading themselves, others, and the business by fostering a culture of excellence and safety. As a key member of the Plant Leadership Team (PLT), you won't just manage workflows—you will act as a change-agent and role model, driving the "Lean" manufacturing practices and continuous improvement efforts that keep us at the top of our game.

Description of Role & Responsibilities

In this role, you provide leadership and direction for all Safety, Quality, Service, Productivity, and Cost Reduction objectives within your assigned area. You will be expected to Display Agility by adapting quickly to new information and Champion Collaboration by working across functional areas to resolve problems and develop improved manufacturing processes.

Operational Excellence & Results

  • Deliver Results: You will drive execution of site improvement plans, ensuring that priorities and accountabilities are clear for your team despite any obstacles.

  • Lean Leadership: Implement Enterprise Lean Sigma (ELS) operating principles to reduce manufacturing waste, improve process efficiency, and maximize "Gallons Per Man Hour" (GPMH) metrics.

  • Workflow Management: Oversee daily production schedules, monitor work progress, and alter schedules as needed to meet unforeseen conditions and ensure maximum capacity.

People Leadership & Development

  • Build High-Performing Teams: You will attract, retain, and develop diverse talent, providing regular feedback through our Global Performance Management System (GPS).

  • Coaching & Training: Identify learning objectives and select instructional methodologies to train team leaders and employees, reinforcing a culture of high-quality work.

  • Conflict Resolution: Promote the Corporation’s Code of Business Ethics and Values while resolving employee relations issues and enforcing organizational policies.

Safety & Environment

  • Safety First: Lead monthly safety meetings and daily huddles to ensure a safety-conscious environment where all employees consistently work in a safe manner.

  • Compliance: Eliminate hazardous situations by recommending safety policies, investigating near-accidents, and ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local safety regulations.

  • Stewardship: Maintain high housekeeping standards and oversee facility cleanliness to ensure a safe and productive working environment.

Qualifications

To thrive in this role, you must be a motivated individual with a strong mathematical and mechanical aptitude, capable of making sound decisions under minimal supervision.

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as Engineering is preferred.

  • Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience in production manufacturing supervision.

  • Certifications: Current Forklift certification training and the ability to acquire any necessary licensures for the facility.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to analyze production data and operational budgets.

  • Leadership Traits: Strong ability to lead, coach, and develop a diverse team, demonstrating a "Team Before Self" mindset.

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to reach, bend, twist, and climb; ability to lift materials over 50 lbs. frequently. Must possess the manual dexterity to operate tools, machinery, and forklifts.

  • Working Conditions: Capability to work in extreme temperatures or weather conditions and handle hazardous materials while following special safety measures.

The salary range for this position is $73,500 - $100,400 / year.
