Job Description

Avery Dennison is seeking a Project Engineer in Mill Hall, PA. In this role, the successful candidate will provide manufacturing support in the forms of project work, consulting and trouble-shooting to resolve safety, production and quality issues which arise on a day-to-day basis for a leading company where individual and team success are recognized and rewarded.

The Project Engineer will lead project planning, communication, and execution to achieve time, cost, and results targets and/or participate in capital and process improvement projects. This highly visible role will design, evaluate and modify complex mechanical and electromechanical devices or systems to continuously improve equipment reliability and productivity. 

  • Provide engineering expertise to offer solutions using hardware design, software design, installation, startup, commissioning and ongoing support to improve plant safety, increase productivity, decrease scrap, improve quality, and support new product development.

    • Work with internal customers to ensure all functional requirements and acceptance criteria are documented and met using a documented acceptance criteria.

    • Develop bid/technical specifications, soliciting bids, working with corporate procurement to award contracts for both manufacturing equipment and construction.

    • Develop project schedules and oversee installations

    • Follow Management of Change processes to implement projects.

    • Responsible for holding regular progress meetings, tracking commitments from others, and escalating any unresolved issues to management.

    • Track and manage project budget.

    • Responsible for Preventive maintenance tasks and spare parts associated with assigned projects. 

    • Create/update drawings, programs, documentation, and operational procedures related to managing projects. 

    • Work with outside vendors to aid in successful project completion. Assess, select, and manage external contractors for project and service requirements. 

  • Participate in, lead and sponsor various task teams or problem solving teams

  • Represents the organization as a technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.

  • Mentor maintenance and operations personnel.

  • Demonstrated experience using AutoCad for updating and creating plant layouts, P&ID drawings, and generating detailed fabrication or machine details, or the ability to learn within 6 months.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering required. Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Or Technology) Preferred.

  • 3 years experience in industrial manufacturing environments.

  • Problem solving, decision analysis, situation appraisal skills.

  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities.

  • Must be self directed and able to manage multiple priorities.

  • Must be capable of working within a team and possess good communication skills(verbal and written.

  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills.

  • Strong organization and computer skills - MS Office, MS Project, MINITAB, AutoCAD, Mainsaver, Chase, Rockwell RS software.

Additional Qualifications Include:

  • Equipment design experience is a plus.

  • Experience managing >$5M capital projects a plus

  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems (including automation control, AC and DC drives, mechanical drives and systems, PLCs, sensors, and motor controls) and facilities systems a plus

  • Experience with statistical analysis including statistical process controls, SPC, DOE, FMEA, and MSE.
