In this diverse role of high impact, we are hiring a highly motivated and forward-thinking Legal Counsel EMENA to join our legal team in our Avery Dennison Materials Group in EMEA () based in our European HQ in Oegstgeest, the Netherlands (hybrid working model) with a direct reporting line to our Senior Legal Counsel, EMENA for our Materials Group business

Your Mission:

  • Trusted Advisor: Serve as a strategic legal partner to the Materials Group EMENA business teams, providing comprehensive and commercially focused legal guidance to leadership and cross-functional teams across sales, marketing, R&D, and more.
  • Subject Matter Expert: Provide expert counsel on a wide range of legal matters, including commercial contracts, digitalization, ESG, antitrust/competition, product liability, and employment law.
  • Proactive Risk Manager: Identify and assess legal risks, effectively communicating potential challenges and developing pragmatic solutions in collaboration with business stakeholders and the Law Department.
  • Skilled Negotiator: Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts, including purchase and sale agreements, consulting agreements, and digital service contracts (SaaS, terms of use, licenses).
  • Project Lead: Support strategic projects and initiatives related to legal, compliance, and regulatory matters, driving efficiency and innovation within the legal support processes.
  • Compliance Champion: Develop and deliver training programs to internal clients on key legal and regulatory topics, fostering a culture of compliance and awareness.
  • Litigation Manager: Manage and oversee outside counsel on litigation matters and strategic projects, optimizing budget and resource allocation.
  • Team Player: Contribute to a positive and collaborative working environment within the Legal Department, championing diversity, trust, and respect

Qualifications

What we expect from you! - Your Expertise:

  • Legal Acumen: Post Graduate Degree in law/EU law and membership in a European Bar association.
  • Proven Experience: 7+ years of experience in a top-tier law firm or multinational company, with expertise in commercial contracts, corporate law, product compliance, sustainability regulations, antitrust/competition law, and labor law.
  • Litigation Expertise: Strong understanding of litigation and dispute resolution mechanisms, including court systems, arbitration, and mediation.
  • Regulatory Awareness: Experience in assessing, advising on, and managing regulatory matters to achieve business objectives.
  • Project Management Skills: Solid project management skills and a good understanding of Enterprise Lean Six Sigma principles.
  • Communication Excellence: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English (additional European languages such as French, Dutch or German are a plus).
