Job Description

This position is for a Software Development Manager who will manage one or more sprint teams developing Software Digital Solutions.  

Activities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Partner with the functional groups within the IT organization to communicate and clarify business needs, contribute to development of long-range system plans, and ensure products and services are aligned with business needs. Conduct business process analyses, needs assessments, and preliminary cost versus benefit measurements; broker other IT services; and communicate trends and requirements to and from customers and IT. 

  • Based on knowledge of assigned customers’ businesses, Consultants are responsible for proactively identifying opportunities to apply technologies to business processes. Inform and advise customers on information system technologies’ functionality, costs, benefits, and implementation requirements, and provide services such as facilitating priority setting and brokering contracts on behalf of customers.

  • Develop and maintain credibility and effective working relations with both customer management and IT personnel in a way that demonstrates an understanding of business problems, as well as IT strategies, issues, and priorities. 

  • Support one or more key business functions. Issues and inter-actions within these processes tend to be highly complex and of significant strategic importance.

  • Be responsible for the overall implementation and execution of project and performance criteria; maintain full knowledge of all phases of business-specific technology implementations.

  • Broker services within the IT community on behalf of customers; coordinate multi-system solutions to clarify interdependencies so that systems appear seamless to customers.

  • Modifies and maintains complex applications using the defined Systems Development Life Cycle.

  • Prioritise and manage multiple projects. Assign specific tasks and lead project (plan, delegate, follow through). Determine resources, actions and timelines for project. Make recommendations to terminate a project due to feasibility issues.

  • Instructs, directs, and reviews the work of other staff members.

  • Show strong expertise in application development, technical leadership, and enterprise level applications.

  • Ensure a consistent high quality of our products by enforcing and teaching best practices

  • Design and develop application features as part of an Agile development process

  • Participate in atma's Architecture Review Board to set technical direction for the platform

  • Be a coach and mentor to technical and non-technical team members to help them grow and succeed

Scope:  

  • You will have a complete understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the field.  General knowledge of other related disciplines.

  • You will develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.

  • Work is performed without appreciable direction.  Exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment.  Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long- term perspective, for desired results.

  • You will guide the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership role.  Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve major organizational objectives.

  • You will represent the organisation as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects.  Interact with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organisations.

  • You are responsible for project budget, budget concerns, driving growth and product development, yield and product quality improvements, driving cost reduction, capacity increases and ELS improvements.

Qualifications

What we are looking for in you:

  • Deep experience in leading the development of large scale data applications

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience with large scale relational databases as well as non-relational databases

  • Experience in developing the infrastructure for IoT devices

  • Strong expertise in application development, technical leadership and enterprise level applications

  • Experience with AWS and Microsoft Azure

  • Familiar with API management

  • Experience with modern web frameworks (Angular, ReactJS)

  • Experience with multiple programming/scripting languages such as C#, Java, Python, JavaScript

  • Experience with web application development as well as native application development (iOS and Android)

  • Solid technical background coupled with the desire and ability to grasp skills quickly

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or similar
