Job Description
The hourly rate for this position is $17.72 - $21.25 / hour.
The hiring wage rate range above represents what Avery Dennison reasonably expects to pay for this position as of the date of this posting. Actual salaries will vary within the range, and in some circumstances may be above or below the range, based on various factors including but not limited to a candidate’s relevant skills, experience, education and training, and location, as well as the job scope and complexity, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel required for the position, which may change depending on the candidate pool. The material handler is responsible for the movement of material throughout the site. This may include loading/unloading of trailers and movement of raw materials, work in process (WIP) and finished goods. This position is on 1st shift, with hours approximately 8am-4pm.
Activities and duties may vary depending upon site-specific needs. Essential functions may include, but are not limited to:
- Move material to/from raw, WIP, Finished, Shipping, Receiving, and manufacturing areas.
- Unload/load trucks/tankers with incoming/outgoing materials. - Verify materials against receiving/shipping documents.
- Complete appropriate transactions to document the movement of material within the Inventory Management System.
- Support inventory accuracy:
- Complete warehouse and departmental cycles counts and correct discrepancies
- Help manage rack inventories
- Raw/Finishing warehouse:
- Pick up and transfer material racks, pallets, and other consumable supplies to/from production areas as required.
- Condense warehouse space and maintain good housekeeping
- Perform all assignments, duties, and tasks in a safe manner following standard procedures and practices. Encourage others to do so. Correct and/or report all unsafe conditions immediately.
- Perform duties to continuously improve quality and productivity.
- Maintain a safe, clean work area.
- Assist in equipment maintenance activities as directed.
- Communicate and coordinate necessary information to appropriate department/shift employees to ensure effective operations.
- Lead in the recycling of pallets, cardboard, and scrap materials.
- Support all 5S housekeeping activities.
- Packing and Palletizing, as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) or 3+ years of relevant manufacturing work experience.
- Must be able to follow written and oral instruction

- Must have strong service and quality focus; address issues effectively when problems arise and take initiative to understand the root cause, then communicate / educate the team in a timely manner.

- Must demonstrate proficiency in essential tasks of the job and a willingness to learn and share knowledge; must take initiative to cross-train and sustain acquired skills.

- Must be able and willing to work overtime, including short-notice requests.
- Must demonstrate proficiency with computer applications, especially strong Oracle transactional skills.
